Hello commission members! Welcome to our monthly newsletter for December 2020!
In this issue:

CSJE Monthly Forum

Please join us for our next CSJE Monthly Forum! Our monthly forums are a chance to dialogue with other student affairs and higher education professionals interested in social justice work. We always start out with a facilitator's choice discussion topic followed by a conversation about opportunities to get involved with the Commission and updates on current projects! This month, we will focus our conversation on free speech and academic freedom on college campuses. The conversation will be facilitated by Dr. Elise Cain, Assistant Professor of Leadership, Technology & Human Development at Georgia Southern University. Join us on Friday, December 11th at 3pm Eastern/2pm Central.

CSJE Member Spotlight: Brian Reece

Brian Reece is the assistant director of housing and residence life at Hawai’i Pacific University where he leads both residential education and operations. He is also a PhD candidate in the program on curriculum, instruction, and the science of learning at the University at Buffalo (SUNY). Brian has been a member of CSJE since 2008 and joined the directorate board in 2012. As Brian nears the end of his term as Chair of the commission, he has enjoyed the opportunity to reflect on how CSJE has grown and evolved over the past decade alongside ACPA and the field, particularly through the lens of the "Strategic Imperative for Racial Justice and Decolonization."  He is also the co-editor of Debunking the Myth of Job Fit in Higher Education and Student Affairs and is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Critical Scholarship on Higher Education and Student Affairs.
