PRESCHOOL ADVENT CALENDAR

Dear Community of Saints Families,

We are near the end of week one of K-8 full distance learning, and we are so proud of our staff and school families for how well we have pivoted and transitioned together!  We know there have been a few technology hiccups here and there, but we anticipated this happening with a school-wide shift, and we are so grateful for the communication of families and staff when this occurs so we can promptly troubleshoot and problem solve.

Our STAR tip of the week this week was to actively attend  Zoom classes.  We cannot reiterate enough how excited we are to offer multiple sessions of live instruction and class interactions each day; it is essential that our students are attending these opportunities to receive live instruction, and to be with their teachers and classmates consistently and regularly.

We are in this together, and if there are ever any barriers that are preventing your students from accessing their Zoom call times and/or school resources, please let us know so that we can help your students feel and be successful.
A Reminder of the Commitment We Ask of Our Families:

When students are experiencing learning from home, we need your help and partnership in ensuring your student(s)' are engaged and accountable for their learning.  If students are logging into their live Zoom calls with their teachers, and following the routines and schedules we have in place, students and families will definitely have an opportunity to have a positive experience.  We do not want families to feel like they are "homeschooling"--all we ask is that we are supported in students following our expectations to fully participate in our online learning programming.

If students are not actively participating in and attending their Zoom meetings, and not completing their work online and not asking their teachers questions, it is going to become very difficult and stressful experience for all parties involved.  We already know the inconvenience and hardship this pivot will have on many of our families and their household to household situations-if students are engaged and fully participating in their classroom's schedule, the outcome should  reduce some of the household stresses relative to the full distance learning experience.

Thank you for your patience, grace and flexibility during these strange times.  We are so proud to serve your family, and we remain committed to your student experiencing faith, inclusivity and love at Community of Saints.

The newest edition of The Good News was published this week.  It can be found here:  http://communityofsaints.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/TGN-FallWinter-2020.pdf.  The Good New newsletter is published by our Alums & Friends & Families committee. It is designed to reconnect with alums, share stories about former classmates and let our community know about the good things happening at Community of Saints Regional Catholic School today. The Alums & Friends & Families tuition assistance fund is our biggest source of funding for tuition assistance.  Last year they raised over $340,000 for COS families!
