Siemiatycki: ‘Parking-lite’ trend shows a shift in public thinking

UTTRI associated faculty Professor Matti Siemiatycki says that public acceptance of less parking is tied to the increasing popularity of “complete communities.”

Four U of T transportation students win WTS Toronto area chapter scholarships

Congratulations to University of Toronto students (L-R) Mahia Anhara, Joanna Ilunga-Kapinga, Alaa Itani and Felita Ong who have been awarded “Advancing Women in Transportation” scholarships by the WTS Toronto area chapter. 

The scholarships were announced at the WTS Toronto Virtual Conference on Wednesday, December 3, 2020.

Ryerson University new Smart Freight Centre partner

Ryerson joins York, McMaster and U of T as a partner of the Smart Freight Centre.

Four Ryerson SFC faculty affiliates - Professors Said Easa, Bilal Farooq (Ryerson SFC Lead), Sharareh Taghipour, and Atefeh Mashatan - will contribute and collaborate towards three key areas of SFC research: (1) Freight Data: Management, Fusion, & Analytics; (2) Freight Logistics & Asset Management: Reliability, Maintenance, Routing, & Matching; and (3) Freight & Road Network: Geometric Design & Safety.

Miller shares best practices for writing technical reports

head shot of Professor Eric MillerUTTRI Director Professor Eric J. Miller presented “Everything you wanted to know about report writing but were afraid to ask” on December 4, 2020 for the UT-ITE seminar series.

He discussed various elements of report writing as a guide to graduate students preparing term project reports, journal articles, theses, etc., and addressed some typical issues that graduate students encounter in their writing.

Alumni outside Toronto are welcome, though monthly meetings & other events will usually be scheduled weekdays between 1700-2000 EST/EDT.

UTTAN will host its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 16 at 5:00 p.m. All transportation alumni are welcome to attend; registration is required.
