Feedback
CEnet ACEN eBook Consortium Feedback

The group of diocese representatives who quietly go about the management of the CEnet ACEN eBook Consortium recently received this feedback based on the direct experience of one of its members. It is a wonderful endorsement of the impact of the collection and underlining the equity and access benefits to all students in participating member dioceses, especially for those rural and remote students who may have trouble getting to a physical library.

"I'm so appreciative of the work this consortium group does, it's a wonderful collection and as I've been onboarding our smaller rural and remote schools the reactions of the students to the size of the collection and the ease of using the SORA app has been astonishing. One little fellow told me he didn't know there were this many books in all the world and he was going to read them all! Thanks for all the work you do team."

The CEnet member dioceses ACEN eBook Consortium, with the assistance of Lisa Nash and Saba Maniar from the Digital Learning and Library Services in Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta have initiated a book of the week feature for students and staff who have access to the SORA eBook Library.

Each week, two reading recommendations for eBooks or audio books, with age guidance will be published for primary school students, and high school students and to make sure that no-one is left out, there will be a recommendation for staff too.

Member Collaboration - Compass/TechOne Collaborative sessions

Last week the CEnet CX team hosted the fifth in a series of CeSIS and CeFMS Collaborative sessions, ’One Session per Day Primary School Setup’

This year Armidale Diocese primary schools moved to a single session per day in their schedule configuration and Kim's collaborative session provided insight into Compass functionality with this type of schedule format. This session was coordinated in response to interest in one session per day from several CEnet member dioceses. The presentation looked at the pros and cons of having one session a day and provided an opportunity to consider whether this setup would work for schools in other member dioceses.

As with all collaborative sessions, a pre-recorded session was sent to all attendees 1 week prior to the event with the understanding that attendees view the pre-recorded session, discuss with their team their own business processes around the presented topic, and contribute to the collaborative session by sharing pain points and strengths.

The series of workshops is being facilitated by CEnet, using the ONCE philosophy of reducing duplication of effort, to provide a forum for participants to share and benefit from the expertise and experiences of colleagues in other member dioceses.

Each week a different Diocese will present how they have tackled a school business process by using an aspect of Compass or TechOne. Those attending the collaborative sessions are asked to come prepared with questions and to be ready to brainstorm and collaborate on how Compass or TechOne can improve their school business processes.

Schedule of events:
  • 10 December at 12.00pm AEDT- End of year financial processes

Product Information Sessions

In the spirit of doing things once, CEnet recently coordinated information sessions for member dioceses with two companies identified by the community as providing products that integrate with TechnologyOne, the financial management element of the CeSIS and CeFMS.

The two suppliers delivered webinars on their Accounts Payable automation solutions.
  • Xcellerate IT provided insights to the Kofax Readsoft Online Accounts Payable solution.
  • Efficiency Leaders delivered a webinar which showcased the Rapid AP solution.
Each of these solutions was identified by member dioceses as services they wished to explore and around 30 people attended each session and had the opportunity to ask questions during and following the events. Both webinars are available as recordings.
