Tinajo (Lanzarote), 4th of December 2020. The island of Lanzarote will once again host a face-to-face sport event after several months without activity due to the pandemic. The XIX Club La Santa 4 Stage Mountain Bike Race Lanzarote opens registration today. The event is the season-opening race of the 2021 cycling calendar set by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation.
The unique S1 event of the “Union Cycliste Internationale” held in the Canary Islands will consist of four stages where participants must ride over different surfaces. On Saturday 23rd of January the 42km race will take place with the race start and finish line at Club La Santa. On Sunday 24th, the second race is also starting and finishing at Club La Santa and it will consist of a 60km course. On Monday the 25th the 20km Time-trial will end at the “Ermita de las Nieves”. The 81Km stage closing the event will be held on Tuesday the 26th.
Professional cyclists (men and women in the UCI Elite category) and amateurs (from Cadets to Master 60+) taking part in the race will test their limits on a spectacular route that takes 90% off road through sand, lava fields and dirt tracks in the northern part of the island.
From today, all participants interested can register HERE

Limited capacity and security protocols
Club La Santa, the Event organizer, has worked in the development of protocols and sanitary measures in cooperation with the competent authorities with the aim of guaranteeing the safety and health of all registrants and of the organization members of the event.
For this reason, in this edition the race capacity will be limited. Likewise, all participants will be required to have an antigen test or a negative PCR test carried out a maximum of 72 hours before the race pack collection.
Fabio Cabrera, Race Director and Sports Manager at Club La Santa, pointed out that “we are really happy to once again host sport events on our Island. In this complicated year, we have taken the opportunity to continue working to offer an unforgettable experience to all participants. We know that  the challenge is big but we are prepared to celebrate a historic race at a high level ”.
