Great End of the Year Matching Gift Opportunity

Dear Friends of Oceana County Love In the Name of Christ:

I am writing to you as the new Executive Director of Oceana County Love INC. My name is Dennis Foley and I have been a pastor in Oceana County for nearly 25 years. I am a native Michigander from the East side of the state, but I firmly believe that on the West side of the state, here in Oceana, we have the prettiest county with the friendliest people. I am truly excited about the Church’s ministry here. As we navigate through COVID-19, we have found that Love INC has had to be nimble and adapt to ensure needs are met in our community. Immediately after the shutdown in March, many of you gave financially to make sure that Love INC would continue to minister.

2020 has been a productive year for Love INC. The prayer ministry has flourished, the Help Center has continued to meet with our neighbors in need, and the Thrift Store has helped by providing items at low or no cost to our community, meeting more needs than ever. People have continued to donate; items are cleaned and displayed by our tireless volunteers. Our reNew classes have had to be scaled back, but they are still meeting needs and are offering a “hand up” through education and community instead of just a “handout”.

Someone has said we “help churches help people” and never has that been more true as churches have stepped up to staff food trucks, deliver meals, make activity kits for students, and care for the “least of these”. The Mission of Love in the Name of Christ is to “Mobilize local churches to transform lives and communities in the Name of Christ.” In 2020, the church has been mobilized, needs have been met, and lives are being transformed in the Name of Christ. Love INC would not exist without our dedicated volunteers from our local church partners. Thank you for all you have done this year!

Another major highlight for this year was the purchase of the building at 191 N Michigan Avenue that houses our Help Center. This building provides improved staff offices, meeting space, and neighbor confidentiality. We are grateful that this purchase was made and are excited to see what the Lord will do in the future with this tremendous asset.
