An Update from The Children's Center

These young guys represent the learning, energy, and concentration found within our walls daily!

As we head toward the end of 2020, many are anxious to be done with this year and hope for a bright beginning to the New Year. Here at The Children's Center, we are counting the many blessings we have experienced. We continue to serve families throughout the Lowcountry, providing a safe, healthy, and enriching place for children while parents support their families. We have discovered a variety of new technology opportunities to communicate and provide safe experiences for our Board, volunteers, and parents. Our staff returned after six weeks of closure with a renewed commitment to service. Our community has gone above and beyond to ensure so many critical non-profit organizations are able to continue to support those in need. This has been a year of tears, smiles, worry but most of all, it has been a year of commitment, collaboration, and comfort. We feel blessed and are energized to open the door to 2021 with enthusiasm and hope!

Help Manage Holiday Stress

Children can absorb the stress of the holiday from the adults around them. Many times they don't understand what they are feeling and therefore may act out because they are confused or frustrated.  We encourage you to take time to be aware of what the children in your household are seeing and feeling. They are excited, they want to make others happy, and most of all, they want to have fun! Below are some tips for managing stress from   Senior Faculty Editor, Harvard Health Publishing.

7 Ways to Prevent Holiday Stress - For Your Children

Here are seven ways to prevent and reduce holiday stress for children this season:
  1. Manage your own stress.
  2. As much as possible, keep routines the same.
  3. Manage expectations.
  4. Keep kids active.
  5. Spend quality time together.
  6. Build some new family traditions.
  7. Choose something to do as a family that helps others.
