The New Recycling Bins Are Out

Meet Environmental Leader Paula Gonzalez Alvarez

Bethesda Green’s Environmental Leaders Program is an experiential school-year long sustainability program targeting high school students in their senior year currently offered for Montgomery County high schools. The training focuses on environmental stewardship and community engagement with local organizations and businesses.

Paula Gonzalez Alvarez is a Senior at Walt Whitman High School and an aspiring engineer. She believes learning about green living and environmental conservation will help her create more sustainable projects in the future. Read Paula's blog post exploring the truth about compostable utensils here.

Through this program, our region is encouraging the triple-bottom-line business philosophy, so that one day, companies thrive not only to be the best, but also to attract the best for workers, and improve communities and the environment.

Meet our New B Corp Intern Eleanor Spies

Eleanore Spies | B Corp Intern
Eleanore is a Bethesda native and third-year student at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is completing a major in economics and a minor in sustainability. Eleanore is passionate about reducing single-use plastic waste and teaching her peers about sustainability. She will be working on the Best for DMV Campaign and the B Corp 101 Workshop series. Outside of work, Eleanore can be found searching for new hiking trails, baking, and painting.
