New ways from Climate&Capital to understand the climate economy.
One of our chief goals here at Climate & Capital Media is to make the business and investing of this new but complex climate economy easier to understand. This week, we have two new features we think will help.
Led by climate editor Blaire Palese, our Climate&Capital staff has put together a list of our ten (plus) favorite books on climate change. We’ve included a list of titles — most of them new releases — that we hope will educate, inspire, and give you new ideas on how you can take personal action on the issue that will no doubt dominate the new year and many years to come. Happy reading!
Next, we’ve launched a new investment feature, the Climate&Capital Elevator Pitch, in which we invite entrepreneurs to pitch us their best climate investment idea and we do our best to figure out whether the investment thesis is good — not only for your portfolio, but also the climate.
This week’s pitch: HYZON Motors Inc., a Singapore based hydrogen fuel cell truck manufacturer. It’s still a privately held company, but it’s making waves in the burgeoning hydrogen truck market. Green asset manager Nicholaus Rohleder tells me HYZON is set to be the Tesla of trucking.
Am I convinced? Well, the last time investors made the Tesla comparison was with another hydrogen truck company called Nikola Motors. It debuted on the NASDAQ in June and sent public investors on a hair-raising ride up before taking them to the cleaners on the way down. Its founder now faces short-selling investigations by the Department of Justice, the New York County District Attorney's Office, and the Securities Exchange Commission. (Some things on Wall Street never change.)
Will HYZON meet the same fate? Check out the piece to see what I think, and be sure to share with your friends if you like what you read. See you next week!
