So many have shown up to help, support, and grieve with those in our valley who have been impacted by the recent fires. Thank you for being a part of these efforts, in all the big and small ways. We are proud of us all.
Mi Valle Mi Hogar, MVMH, wants to share with you this newsletter that includes an overview of our work over the past eight weeks since the Almeda Fire swept through our valley. We are honored to be a part of all the good work being done.

Who We Are
The organization that was introduced just days after the Almeda Fire as Rogue Valley Homes and Shelter Relief is now Mi Valle Mi Hogar / My Valley My Home.
The mission of MVMH is to support up to 500 Latinx families displaced by the Almeda Fire in securing high quality, sustainable homes they own, in locations conducive to their personal and collective well-being.
Our hope is to radically change the typical path of post-disaster home rebuilding in the valley by rooting it in equity, sustainability, and healing.
What We Do
We intend to oversee six distinct activities in order to create long-term housing solutions and support our valley’s ecosystem of recoveryas a whole.
These six things are:

Please note: a great deal of progress has been made toward this new charitable venture in a very short time, but disaster recovery and community rebuilding takes time. We are in this for the long haul, and intend to approach our role of convener, collaborator, and representative thoughtfully and deliberately to ensure long-term impact.

Progress to Date
Here is a list of what we’ve accomplished in this past eight weeks:
• Defined our mission, vision and primary activities.
• Formalized our organizational structure, and filled key leadership positions with dedicated volunteers and staff. See more about who we are on our website.
• Invited community members to join an advisory board that includes subject matter experts and representatives of the community we aim to serve. This advisory board will provide oversight and strategic guidance for the leadership team.
• Secured a fiscal sponsor (MRG Foundation) and fiscal agent (Post Growth Institute) so we can operate immediately, until we eventually register as a separate legal entity. • Strengthened collaborative relationships with key organizations meeting community needs.
• Hosted collaboration calls focused on addressing the immediate and long-term needs of the community. • Partnered with Rogue Volunteer Initiative - a community hub for volunteer and mutual aid efforts in response to the Almeda Fires. • Secured initial funding and began to pursue additional grants and other resources to support the mission.
• In partnership with Local Innovation Works & Southern Oregon University’s Local Innovation Lab, provided experiential learning opportunities for interns, including community asset mapping, communications, fundraising, translation services, and other leadership skills.
Next Steps
Moving forward, we are exploring a variety of exciting collaboration opportunities, and continuing to act as a key convener. We have collaboration meetings scheduled around a variety of timely topics, including land acquisition options, funding, housing models, and community asset integration.
We are planning an ongoing series of listening sessions to ensure the voices of those we aim to serve continue to be centered within our efforts.
We will be working to keep you and the broader community informed about our progress, via newsletters like this one, as well as our website and social media.
We will be supporting our newly formed advisory board as it meets to provide oversight and strategic guidance.
