Welcome to our December 2020 newsletter. In this edition, we will tell you what we have been up to this past month.

Campaign Update

The fund-raising campaign for FICDO's education program is going well. So far, over 3700 Euro (including 1800 through GoFundMe platform) have been raised. We have already started the actual project work, thanks to all of you who have generously donated. If you would like to chip in, use this link. No donation is small; a five-euro donation can stretch far.

Masks Distributed

Face masks have been distributed to students (even for the younger ones so that they won't feel left out when the older ones have one). As we mentioned last month, Rebecca Ewnetu and Olivia Duda, from Holy Family Secondary School Newbridge, Ireland, donated these masks from proceeds of their online Jewellery (https://depop.com/bex_1036) and crafts business (https://etsy.me/305ofSj) which they started at the onset of the pandemic. The FICDO team appreciates Rebecca and Olivia's thoughtfulness and generosity.

School Uniforms Arrived...

Some of the new school uniforms that we ordered for our students arrived. The children loved them and are excited to start school. The funds for the uniforms came from donations from the community as well as our supporters through our GoFundMe campaign and direct donations. Well done to all of you, who are behind this noble cause. Together, we are giving educational opportunities and a way out of poverty for young children. No one should be left behind!

Lunch is Served...

Schools will officially open mid-December, but at FICDO's school feeding center, we have started serving lunch since mid-November. Our volunteers ensure that everything is in place and running smoothly. It is heart-warming to see the volunteers using local resources effectively and efficiently. Our kitchen and most of the materials we are using are very basic and certainly not fancy, but they serve the purpose. Well done to all, who are involved including those of you who are backing this initiative financially.

Meet the Board

FICDO's Trustees recognize the need to continuously identify and work on strategic programs/ projects beyond
humanitarian and emergency responses. After all, FICDO's goal is to empower and bring social and economic development in our communities. In addition to face to face meetings, our board members hold online discussions as much as possible.
