Tēnā koutou katoa

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – the smell of pine trees and the sparkles of the lights on houses and Christmas trees.  It’s my favourite time of year – of course that is helped with having an eight and two year old who believe in the magic of Christmas. I know our staff, volunteers and contractors are all ready for a well-deserved break as we are entering into the final month of what will be remembered as a year of challenge.

While I don’t want to jinx it – we’re nearly there and with that comes the ability to reflect. While my time in the CEO seat has been short, I have seen and felt the passion, dedication and selflessness of our staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to support our whānau in need; and that need is great.

The ability to live into our vision and mission would not have been possible without the support of many of you. Our funders, NGO colleagues, local cheerleaders and community supporters and friends.  When we rise together and work together we get so much more done. 2020 represents a year of challenge but also a year of unity and support. This kotahitanga and manaakitanga will become increasingly important as we embrace what 2021 has in offer.  We’re ready for it knowing that you are all by our side!

Until then, from our whānau to yours, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May you enjoy the festive time with your loved ones and have a well-deserved break.
