PRESENTING THE JAMS INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC WINTER VIRTUAL CONCERT!

We are proud to present the first virtual performance of the 2020-21 year of the JAMS Bands and Orchestras!  Please visit the JAMS Instrumental Music website on Wednesday, December 16th to be inspired by our incredible young musicians who have persevered through many unique challenges of “Zoom-rehearsals” these past 16 weeks.  The concert “doors” will open at 7:00pm, and everyone is welcome!  (If you are not able to join us that evening, the Virtual Concert will be available for viewing anytime afterwards.)

On behalf of Ms. Woo, Mr. Garnreiter and all 300 instrumental music students, a heartfelt note of appreciation to our music families for your invaluable collaboration, support, and encouragement.  While this holiday season is unlike any other, we are deeply grateful that we can still connect and share the gift of music with our loved ones.  Wishing everyone much peace and good health!

Santa Monica Education Foundation

JAMS students need your financial support. Your donation to the Santa Monica Education Foundation is the only way to fund additional staff and programs at JAMS that enrich our students’ education.

And now, your donation will have twice the impact, thanks to an extraordinary $65,000 match.

When you donate to the Ed Foundation to support arts, STEM, wellness and other essential programs, their match donors will make a dollar-for-dollar matching gift to fund tutoring for socio-economically disadvantaged youth in Santa Monica schools, up to $65,000. This match will run through December 18 and ensures socio-economically disadvantaged students receive the academic help they need during distance learning.

The $65,000 match is made possible by: $50,000 from an anonymous donor, $10,000 from the Nancy and Nimish Patel Family Foundation, and $5,000 from the Appelbaum-Kahn Foundation.

Please donate today at smedfoundation.org!

Attention 8th Grade Parents

TIME IS RUNNING OUT!  The John Adams Yearbook staff is currently selling 8th grade kudos ads. A kudos is a celebratory ad in the yearbook that you purchase and design. It is a great reflection of your child’s journey and time at John Adams. Sadly, spots for kudos are limited and the deadline to order a kudos ad is 12/31/2020.   The ad space is sold "first come first serve" so it would be best to place your order as soon as possible.

To purchase and design your child's recognition ad simply go to this link:  https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1007423/John-Adams-Middle-School/

You can create a collage with baby pictures, sports events, and a message to your child to look back on. This is a great way to celebrate your students success!

If you have any questions please feel free to email jamsyearbook@smmk12.org

YEARBOOK 2020-2021
The Coronavirus and Distance Learning will not stop this year's JAMS yearbook class from publishing the 2020-2021 John Adams Yearbook. The price is $30 and you do not want your child to miss out on these precious memories! You can purchase your yearbook at www.jostens.com

Attendance & what to do if your child is absent:

Students enrolled at JAMS are expected to engage in distance learning in order to meet compulsory school attendance requirements. Attendance for each student will be recorded in Illuminate daily. If a student is unable to be online for distance learning, parents must report this to the school attendance clerk.

Parents may report absences via the JAMS website (click on the "Find It Fast" button at the top right and then select "Report an Absence"; or click here) or by sending an email to jbeekman@smmusd.org. Please be sure to provide your child's name, ID number or birthdate, date of absences and a detailed reason for the absence. If the absence is technology related, please write "technology issues" under the "Other" option.

Absences must be reported within 72 hours from the date of absence in order to have your child's record up to date. Absences that are not cleared within 72 hours will be recorded as truant. For more information on district attendance policies, please refer to SMMUSD's Attendance FAQ page.
