Greetings Rare Ones,

Chieftess Jo-Ann here checking in with an update. The Rare Birds New Year begins in December and we are seven days in.   I am starting our year off with the Ghana Startup Circle 2020, a yearly forum aimed at creating a conversation around the Ghana Startup Ecosystem and well, as you know I am always seeking good conversation! For me good conversation is like breathing fresh crisp air: sharpening the mind and filling me with unbridled energy (just like that)!

This is a Ghana For Startups initiative led by my friend Gilles Ametepe.  Gilles is the CoFounder of Ghana for Startups.  He is a Togolese /Ghanaian and he would like to see Ghana as the leading startup-Nation in Africa (the audacity)!

My conversations with Gilles are always good and like all our Rare Ones he is furiously ambitious and fearless in his pursuits.  More importantly Gilles has a vision [for the Ghana Startup Circle 2020] which he is bringing to life this Friday 11 December and I would like to extend an invite to you to join in.

Gilles elaborated on his vision recently in an article in Citi Newsroom titled, Ghana for Startups:  Pivoting from a Tourist Attraction to a Tech Nation. Upon reading the article I am certain you will agree that Gilles' vision is clear, purposeful and well positioned.

Rare Birds is the digital media partner for the inaugural event (because why not, oh why would I ever let a good alignment go to waste)  and will be producing a series of bespoke content specifically for the Ghana Startup Circle.  Gilles vision resonates  and aligns with everything this platform represents. The content will all be available for you soon and moreover will be an opportunity for you to:

1. Get to learn more about Gilles
2. Understand the story behind Ghana for Startups
3. Hear from some of the players in the Ghana ecosystem
4. Develop an understanding of the issues because, there is always nuance

You can sign up for the event here  and follow the hashtags #GhanaForStartups and #GSPC2020.

I hope to see you on Friday!  As a thank you for reading this first newsletter of the Rare Birds New Year I would like to gift you 50 $RONES, the Rare Birds social money, which grants access to our digital community. Click here to claim yours. They expire on Friday 11 December and there are only 10 available.

I will be releasing a new podcast episode this Wednesday with Kimberly from Trinidad & Tobago. We are discussing sales and of course we dibble, dabble, guffaw, pepper the chat and do what we do best in our way, just how we like it:-)

I had a great time chatting with Ally last week Friday on the first live podcast and will share that content very soon. The next live will be happening on Friday 1 January 2021.

Like I mentioned in the Rare Birds Instagram stories last week there are only three more weekly podcasts left. In 2021 I will only be doing monthly live conversations, but you can always re-listen to the 160 episodes that will remain on the platform and of course prepare for the new content that is on its way. I will share a podcast all about that soon. See you next week Monday for more bits.

3-2-1-0

Until next Monday,
Stay Rare
JoXx
