Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario is pleased to collaborate with the Canadian Bankers Association in bringing you an informative educational session about, "Mitigating Risks of Financial Abuse around Joint Bank Accounts and Powers of Attorney”. 
 
The Canadian Bankers Associations in collaboration with the Financial Consumer Agency developed the Your Money Seniors program. The program is a free, non-commercial, financial literacy resource for all those 55 and older. Consisting of three modules of an hour each, Your Money Seniors focuses on various issues of protecting seniors’ finances. In this webinar, the speaker will highlight information from this program, to bring clarity to continuing issues of financial abuse making the news, including
  •  Who is vulnerable to financial abuse and why
  • Understanding the difference between financial abuse and fraud
  • Recognizing abuse of powers of attorney (POA)
  • Identifying the difference between a Banking Power of Attorney 
  • When to notify your bank and the steps they should take to protect your account information
  • What are the risks of Joint Bank Accounts and how banks engage to assist seniors when issues arise.
  • How to Protect Your Financial Information and Assets against financial abuse
  • Finding Resources to Get Help, and how to contact your bank/financial institution for updates to your information.

In partnership with the Alzheimer Society, please join us to test your connection to Zoom and increase your comfort using the platform to connect with our programs. Explore features inside Zoom including using the chatbox, renaming your display name, turning your video on and off, mute and un-mute, and display options.  Once you register you will be sent an email containing the link to the zoom session.

Mindfulness & Stress Response Workshop
Interactive Workshop

This 90-minute interactive workshop will explore the global trauma response to the pandemic and how mindfulness can help ease stress and build emotional resiliency. Participants will have the opportunity to practice a series of brief exercises designed to deepen an understanding of the neuroscience and benefits of mindful meditation.

Presenter: Jessica Lemieux, BSW, MSW

Jessica is a therapist, trauma sensitive mindfulness meditation teacher and owner of Cultivation Therapy Services. Jessica's unique therapeutic approach blends together mindfulness, neuroscience and psychology.

Christmas Turkey Meals and Sweet Treat are selling fast
Reserve yours now before December 17th
Storms Meat and Deli will be preparing a beautiful holiday meal featuring roast turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. We are also including a sweet treat, all for just $14.00.
Meals are available until Dec 17. Please call Hanya at 905-356-6493 to reserve your meal. Alternatively, you can email Hanya  and order your turkey meal. Payment at the centre needs to be received before Thursday December 17 and dropped in our mailbox Monday - Thursday between 10:00am - 3:00pm. (Mailbox is located outside the doors off the parking lot) Order as many meals as you like. Cheques are to be made payable to 'City of Niagara Falls'.
Our very special guest Santa will be giving out the meals, which will be available to pick up by drive-by on December 22nd between 10:00 am and 2:00 p.m. at the Coronation Centre parking lot. We will let you know your pick up time. See you then!
