The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is known as GivingTuesday, a “global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world”.  It started in 2012 as a day that encourages people to do good, whether it is helping a stranger or neighbor out, showing up in support of an issue or cause, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help.

This year, the Sitka Sound Science Center, like many non-profits around the world, was hit hard due to the pandemic.  Our normal visitor season was virtually non-existent (we anticipated about 15,000 visitors from May-September, but only saw about 750), many of our programs had to be put on hold or canceled altogether, and the variety of researchers we usually host couldn’t come this year.  All of these have had a negative impact on our finances, and we need YOUR support.  Your contribution will help us to keep moving forward with our mission of science education and science research.
