Hello <<First Name>>

It's been a while since my last newsletter in July. Since then I've moved into my new home studio and started to settle in. With Bradford spending most of the past 4 months in lockdown or heightened restrictions, I have seldom left the end of my street, so it's been lovely to have my studio just down the garden path. I have also been busy with my teaching at Bradford School of Art, where I must say it has really boosted my spirits working with my students, both at college and online.

It probably goes without saying that the ever changing situation has made it extremely difficult to plan events this year. Most of my workshops and exhibitions have been cancelled or postponed. This week I should have been exhibiting at The Knitting & Stitching Show in Harrogate, an event I look forward to every year, so this email comes with a special hello to all those I normally bump into on the annual pilgrimage.

Despite the difficulties of planning I have finally taken the plunge and planned some events for 2021. You can find more details of workshops and talks further down this email...

Wishing you all the very best for the season.

Stay safe.

Workshops

I have planned two workshops at my home studio in West Yorkshire. Cyanotype Essentials is a one day introduction to the fascinating world of blueprinting. During the workshop you will learn how to prepare and mix chemicals to print on a range of materials, including textiles and papers. These workshops will be limited to small groups of 6 students, with all materials and lunch included in the price.

I'll be running two dates for in-person workshops at my studio; 15th May and 30th July 2021. Find out more and book a place online.

Talks

With so many exhibitions and events cancelled and postponed this year, I thought I would take the plunge and share some of my work with you in a different way. My first online talk 'Deconstructing Cloth' will take place on Zoom, 25th January at 7.30pm (UK time).

The theme of the talk will explore several of my recent projects, which take inspiration from historical textiles, archives or the local textile industry. I'll be showing images from my personal research and textile sampling, as well as giving an insight into the development of my projects from inspiration to realisation.

Tickets are available to book now on my website, where you can also find more details.

I am also able to offer talks via Zoom for interested groups. Contact me for more information.

In print

In other good news, I was delighted that my book Poetic Cloth was reprinted by Batsford late this summer. If you have been trying to get hold of a copy, it's now back in print. You can also buy signed copies from my website

You can also find my work featured in the latest beautiful book by Mandy Patullo; 'Textiles Transformed', also published by Batsford.

Stay safe and I look forward to catching up soon.

All the best,

Hannah
