We're back!
After a short hiatus, The Bureau of Good Roads newsletter has returned in a new form. Meet Discover Traffic Gardens! We're based in Virginia and have been helping build small worlds around the region and beyond for kids. We consult on the design and construction of traffic gardens and involve as many children as we can in that process. We had been visiting and compiling information about traffic gardens all over to create new guidance but since we've been staying close to HQ lately, we started making and selling DIY Traffic Garden Kits and guides as well. The mission as always is to get more people on bikes while also developing knowledge and understanding about how to put together a better built world for all. 2020 has made it clearer than ever that access to comfortable outdoor space for children is critical to well-being. Traffic gardens are spaces where children can have active fun, even 2020-style.
Our monthly newsletter will include updates on the latest developments in our mini-world. Temporary traffic gardens have become the hot topic this year so we'll be sharing what we've learned from the asphalt frontlines. We'll provide hints and tips for activities you can do around your neighborhood to keep kids active and engaged, as well as stories from communities who are finding ways to repurpose little-used space. The website is a center for general traffic garden information and we are growing that resource and building the broader national knowledge base. If you want to learn more about Discover Traffic Gardens, or get in touch with us directly, visit trafficgardens.com.
So a big thanks from us at Discover Traffic Gardens HQ for hanging in there while we got this project launched. We're so excited to share what we've been working on as well as introduce you to amazing people from all over the country who are creating exciting projects for kids. We think you'll find it's worth the wait.
