Greetings to all our fondly-remembered alumni from Nature's Classroom Institute and Montessori (NCIM), from all the current teachers, staff, and parents! We know many of you and your children treasure your memories of your Nature's Classroom experience, and so we are contacting you in hope that your generosity can help us keep the school and its unique, nationally-renowned nature-oriented educational experience alive for the future.
NCIM is facing an existential financial crisis this year because of COVID-19. NCI (environmental camp) schools, who have always supported the Montessori school operation through their tuition, have been forced by COVID-19 to cancel upcoming NCI contracts (although they all plan to return post-COVID). This loss, along with reduced school enrollment this year, forced Geoffrey, Deepa, and other teachers, to confront the financial reality of possibly having to close the school permanently at the end of 2020.
An emergency pledge drive in November fortunately produced enough financial support to keep the school open the rest of 2020 and into Spring 2021 and provided our school community with much gratitude and reassurance that school families are committed to NCIM for the long haul. Many thanks to those involved and to those who pledged so generously! However, the accumulating financial impacts of COVID on NCIM will continue to threaten the school's financial stability into 2021.
Therefore we are also reaching out to you, our NCIM alumni, to ask you to consider an end-of-year donation to help ensure our continuing financial viability and help carry our precious little school across this period of COVID-related crisis.
We understand that families have varying financial situations in 2020, so any support you are willing to provide is at your own discretion. However, no amount is too small; even young NCM students are contributing their own money to help keep their school open!
Because the school is a 501c(3) tax-deductible organization, December is a good time to consider a charitable contribution that can both help the school during this unique crisis and also provide your family with an annual tax benefit toward 2020 taxes. NCIM sends donation receipt letters promptly for all donor gifts. In addition, if you can pledge before December 15, 2020 NCIM will receive a business match of 100% of your pledge.
