COVID-19 check-in

Recent COVID Response Team updates cover services provided for students on campus as well as health care access for students living on campus or within Kent County. As always, contact ResponseTeam@calvin.edu with any questions.

The Center for Counseling and Wellness is providing individual meetings with counselors through finals week (closing Dec. 18); out-of-state students can receive consultation for finding local resources. All students are encouraged to stay connected with CCW’s digital mental health resources (TAO, Calvin Unmasked, etc.) throughout the holidays.

Giving Tuesday

It’s #GivingTuesday and, today only, your $5 means exponentially more for students. For every 100 people who make a gift, a generous donor will give an extra $10,000. Will you give now? Your gift, no matter the size, helps!

Special events open to families

Join the Calvin Gospel Choir online as they premier a virtual worship experience on Friday, December 11, 8 p.m. EDT.

Participate in the Alumni Association’s Christmas break family scavenger hunt Dec. 21–Jan. 3 on campus (outside only!) or in your home community.

Calvin’s 2021 January Series lectures (Jan. 6–26) will be available for video viewing on your personal devices. The roster features New York Times’ best-selling authors, two of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential Leaders, and speakers who will look at the future of artificial intelligence, democracy, global trade, and civil discourse.

Over 2000 participants have registered for Calvin’s Symposium on Worship, which is free and online in 2021. On-demand content will be available Jan. 6–26 along with daily livestream sessions, 20 worship services, 14 podcasts, and more. Please share this invitation with worship leaders and worship lovers worldwide!

Follow our Calvin University Parents & Families Facebook page for regular reminders about upcoming events.

Calvin LifeWork programming

For first-year students: Ask your student how Calvin LifeWork is going and what they’ve learned from the modules we encouraged them to complete this fall:

  • What is vocation and why should I care?
  • PathwayU (a major/career related personal assessment)
  • Introduction to Stewardship
  • Inclusive Leadership

If they are not participating in the program but would like to, have them email the Career Center at clw@calvin.edu.

Ready for Life program expansion

Since 2007, the Ready for Life Academy has provided a college experience for young adults with intellectual disability. Now, a $1.2 million grant opens the door for Calvin to be the first university in Michigan to offer a Comprehensive Transition and Post-Secondary program, expanding access to residence living, on-campus programs, and campus life experiences for our RFLA students.
