Update from Blenheim Church

As with everyone else, 2020 has been a year like no other. Coping with the limitations of lockdown at its various levels has been interesting, to say the least. Our situation was slightly compounded by the need to remove asbestos-laden materials in the ceiling of our complex, and we started with the hall. Professional contractors were engaged, and they removed the whole ceiling, necessitating the construction of a false ceiling. Once this was installed, the whole of the hall region was repainted. The process was interrupted for some time by COVID-19, but is now complete.
During the winter, we operate our ADRA Caravan on a Sunday evening soup run (foodstuffs supplied by Pak'n'Sav). This, too, was interrupted by COVID-19. The Church family has also been involved in a couple of massive working bees on a Sunday morning, doing maintenance and alterations to the yards of two of our church families.
Each year, the local Council produces an incredible fireworks display in November. We are blessed in that one of our Church members (our Senior Elder) has a property that backs onto the A&P Showgrounds, and so on the designated evening, some 50+ Church members met for a fellowship meal, closing Sabbath and enjoying the spectacular display.
The highlight of any Church's year is always the conducting of baptisms, and on November 21, we were richly blessed to witness three precious souls make their stand for God's kingdom. Kate Wadsworth, along with her daughter Philippa Pigott, were baptized in a beautiful morning service, and then Brad Masterton was baptized in the Waihopai River in the afternoon, where 40+ Church members supported him with singing and prayer.
We are currently concluding a CHIP program for a group of people in a private home. We are planning to conduct community health programs in 2021. We are very grateful for the leadership of our pastor, Gordon Gosset.
