Well you smashed it.

We gave you a challenge to run the distance of Portsmouth to Portsmouth USA during Lockdown 2.0 and you finished with days to spare whilst also raising £579 for the Poppy Appeal. Well done!

We would like to keep this positivity going so we have 2 things that we’d like to announce.

Firstly, we all know what a disrupted season this has been and  we are starkly aware of how much of the clubs output has been curtailed. With that in mind we investigated a number of options around extending membership periods, or making refunds, but the complexities of the online system made this difficult to apply appropriately.

As an alternative that will bring some Christmas cheer, whilst also supporting charities that have also struggled with donations this year the club will make a donation roughly equivalent to 6 months fees on your behalf. This £2000 donation will be split across 4 charities that are either local or closely related to the club.

The four charities are:

  • Mind
  • Lupus Uk
  • Eastney Food Bank
  • Rowans Hospice

We will get a few lines on each charity in future articles and entries on FB when we have made your donations.

Secondly, with the success of the Poppy Run virtual event  in these challenging times we would like to formally nominate Believe & Achieve Mistletoe, Medals, and Mugs virtual event as a club sponsored event. We want to see your race pictures while we go a long way to supporting this local business.

Of course club business is carrying on and you should have seen that we are pushing ahead with plans for the club duathlon at Goodwood; details can be found below.

We are also continuing to work on the club plan and we will soon be coming to you with a survey to guide our work.  Look out for the link soon.

Fingers crossed that Santa has some pleasant surprises for you all. I hope to see you out and about. If you are completing your virtual miles be sure to give me a real wave!!

Merry Christmas

Chairman
