Dear Bateman Families and Friends,
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Now that we have spent some quality time with our families and are well rested, it’s time to remind everyone that learning will continue as before, which includes required attendance at all meets, participation in class, and completion of all work. We are in a festive time of year and have three weeks of uninterrupted learning time. This is a unique opportunity to focus on student grit, celebrate the festive time of year with the help of our Essentials Teachers, and check in with our online learning expectations.
The expectations below are a reminder of etiquette for online classes:
It takes teamwork to make education a success and the support that we receive from our parents, students, teachers, and community is essential to make it work well. We recommend all parents to stay active and involved with the education of their students. If you have not yet signed up for the parent portal, please contact Evelyn Rivera at elrivera@cps.edu. Also, ask questions of your students when something appears to be wrong or out of character. Consult with teachers, counselors, and administration if there are issues that may be difficult to solve on your own. We are here to support your efforts with your children because we are #BatemanStrong!
We are very fortunate to have this community of families, learners and educators that come together here at Bateman. Thank you for all that you have done this past year and for your continued support.

Eligibility Requirements
Many high school programs have minimum eligibility requirements that students must meet in order to apply. Each program also has a selection process that determines how seats are filled. The Elementary and High School Guide provides a comprehensive listing of each high school program, the minimum eligibility requirements (if applicable) and the selection process. Selective Enrollment High Schools Exam
If you are applying to Selective Enrollment High Schools, you can schedule your child’s admissions exam after you submit your application. Additional testing seats will be added when current capacity fills up. Please note that there is no guarantee which sites will offer additional seats.

FACE Workshops
Week of November 30th
As our district continues to navigate through the COVID-19 health crisis, we want our families and students to know we are here to support them.
Family and Community Engagement in Education has launched a series of virtual workshops to help families navigate this new normal. Virtual offerings will be curated by experts and include various topics in the following areas:
- Academics
- Arts and meditation
- Socio-emotional support
- Technology assistance
- Direct access to experts from the field

Dialogue with the Deputy: Kindergarten Transition & GoCPS Application

Preschool families are invited to join Leslie McKinily, the Deputy Chief of the Office of Early Childhood, and guests from the Office of Access and Enrollment to discuss how to navigate the process of GoCPS. GoCPS allows families to learn, research, explore, and apply to nearly every CPS school and program through one online platform.
