As the days grow shorter and colder, and the trees turn golden and lose their leaves, we welcome the coming winter at Ganja Ma Gardens. It has been a glorious November harvest season that has included some very much appreciated rainy days that finally put out the last of the summer fires in the neighboring hills. Temperatures have already dropped as low as 23º and sweaters and long johns, and cozy fires in the woodstove, are in demand.
The last plants were harvested during the first week of November and hung up to dry with dehumidifiers and fans to regulate the conditions. We have been busy since then bucking the buds off the branches.
Our distributor/processing partners, Seed2Soul, has picked up the first finished batches to begin trimming and packaging them to be on store shelves by mid-December.
Meanwhile, in the gardens, the cannabis stalks and gopher cages have all been removed and a cover crop of nitrogen-fixing plants has been added on top of the soil to keep it healthy. We then covered it with compost to discourage the turkeys from flying over the fence to eat the seeds. A good farmer is always thinking ahead to the next season.
It has been a joy to connect with many of you via our bi-weekly Seshins With Swami. In November, our very special guests were the beautiful and brilliant Maya of Om Edibles as well as Patrick King, aka Soil King, who had great stories to share.
