WGA Global Webinars

Wrapping up this year with a great online session! On Saturday, December 19, over 13,000 viewers from 137 countries joined the 2nd WGA Global Webinar on Glaucoma diagnosis, monitoring and more.

Worm in the eye? Look closer!

This video describes an interesting case of a 2-month old boy who presented with sudden appearance of “blood and a worm” in his right eye, with no history of trauma. Anterior segment examination including Gonioscopy revealed anterior insertion of iris in both eyes with iris processes typical of Axenfeld Rieger’s anomaly with pupil obscured by iris tissue. A detached Schwalbe’s line (posterior embryotoxon) was seen which gave the initial “worm” like presentation. A Pupilloplasty was performed using a vitrectomy cutter to expose the underlying clear lens.

This symposium was anchored by Glaucoma Australia. It explored how patients and Ophthalmologists can be united by their interests in glaucoma. The passion of the glaucoma Australia patient symposium is to improve awareness and ensure early diagnosis of glaucoma in Australia.

Srinivasan Kavitha - Axenfeld Anomaly Angles

This is the gonioscopic picture of a patient with Axenfeld Anomaly. The picture (Panels A & B) shows angles with a prominent Schwalbe’s line (green arrow) and adhesions of the iris strands to the anteriorly displaced Schwalbe’s line (red arrow).
