Hello Wayne County!

OUR COMMUNITY

Main Street Coalition

Forward Wayne County conducted its kickoff meeting of the Main Street Coalition earlier this month. Groups from around the county came together to discuss how to work together to make Wayne County a place to visit, shop, and improve the downtown areas. This links back to our focus on Neighborhood Development. We are excited to see how this group moves forward.

Couch Shopping with the Chamber

The Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first ever Wayne County Couch Shopping event on December 11th at 6 p.m. on Facebook Live. They are highlighting what Wayne County businesses have for sale this holiday season. You'll be able to shop along and support these businesses without ever getting out of the house! CARES Act and Charitable Contributions

COVID Tax Tip 2020-153: Whether taxpayers are supporting natural disaster recovery, COVID-19 pandemic aid or another cause that's personally meaningful to them, their charitable donations may be tax deductible. These deductions basically reduce the amount of their taxable income. Learn more here.

OUR PEOPLE

Reid Health Community Benefit

Reid Health is offering free, online behavioral and mental well-being screenings. Completely anonymous, users can get instant feedback. FWC supports this for the Health and Wellness of our county residents.

Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship

Applications are open for Indiana’s Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship. High-achieving students interested in pursuing a career in education are invited to apply for the renewable scholarship of up to $7,500 per year for four academic years. We support this as education teachers are a high-demand occupation for Wayne County.

Your Next Step 2.0

The State of Indiana released the second version of Your Next Step 2.0 this month. Whether it’s guidance on an education program, figuring out how to file for federal financial aid or help finding a job, Your Next Step can connect you with live experts across Indiana to help you figure out your next step. #NextStepIN
