THREATS TO HOUSING SECURITY-THURSDAY, DEC. 10 AT 6:30 PM
Financial worries and the threat of eviction are a sad reality for many in our community. To address those concerns, Sustaining Way is partnering with the Nicholtown Neighborhood Association, the City of Greenville and Greenville Human Relations to provide an informative 90-minute zoom forum about housing security in Nicholtown. It’ll feature advice from housing experts about renter rights, the eviction moratorium, ways to lower energy bills, understanding tax bills, and home/property maintenance assistance. To register, go to

FOOD NOT BOMBS

All donations come from the community and go directly back into the community, and they’re always given freely with no strings attached. There are MANY volunteer opportunities and their Facebook page is updated on a daily basis.

HELP REDUCE METHANE EMISSIONS
More than 20% of global carbon emissions come from agriculture and food production—and half of all methane emissions come from cattle and rice crops alone. If we want to slow deforestation, improve air and water quality, improve personal health, and shrink emissions, changing the way we eat is the most effective way to do so.  Buy local, and eat meat-free at least 2 days a week. See
kickstart.pcrm.org for meal plans.

ADULT RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
HOLIDAY GIFT SESSIONS WITH LOVE
FROM YOUR FRIENDS AT GUUF

With the exception of the "White Lies" series, regular Adult RE programming will be on hiatus in December. Instead, we invite you to join us for four “Holiday Gift Sessions” on Sunday evenings in December at 6:30. Each program will last from 1-1½ hours.  One sign up link, but each session is different and stands alone.  For access to one or all of the sessions, CLICK HERE.

December 6th: Surviving the Holidays
Whether you find yourself alone during the holiday season or surrounded (virtually or in person) with a chaotic press of friends and family, the holidays can be stressful in many ways. In this session, we will share thoughts, humor, anecdotes, and antidotes for relieving stress and staying balanced even when we aren't very merry.

December 13: The Meaning(s) of Christmas for UUs
Unitarians celebrate the diversity of their religious backgrounds and   spiritual beliefs. What meaning, then, does this special time of year hold
for each of us? Come share your take on Christmas. Let’s see what a   broad palette of thought and celebration we share as UUs.

December 20: A Spiritual Yule
There are those among us who find special meaning at this time of year beyond the traditions of Christianity, Santa Claus, and gift-giving. Come enjoy a YULE celebration led by members of our Faces of the Goddess and Earth Spirit groups at GUUF.

December 27:  A Virtual New Year’s Celebration
While we may not be able to gather in person, let’s join together and   share the love with a virtual New Year’s celebration. We can   share memories, traditions, anecdotes, and a short ritual about things   we are ready to release, and what we hope to bring forth in the new   year.  And Toasting—plenty of toasting!

WHITE LIES
In 1965, UU Minister Rev. James Reeb was attacked in Selma, Alabama after leaving a restaurant. He died three days later.  Three white men were arrested, but quickly acquitted and the case was closed. No one was ever held to account for his murder.
Fifty years later, two Alabama journalists returned to Selma to investigate. It took them five years to expose the lies that kept the murder from being solved, but in the process they uncovered a wrenching story about guilt and memory that says as much about America today as it does about the past.

White Lies is a serialized investigative podcast released over 7 episodes on National Public Radio.   “RIVETING!”  CLICK HERE TO LISTEN ON THE WEB

Please join us for a multi-congregation Adult Religious Education class exploring the real-life implications of systemic racism.

Eight sessions on Thursday Evenings 7 pm-9 pm
November 12-January 21 on Zoom

(No session November 26th or December 24th)
Led by Rev. Lisa Bovee-Kemper

JOYS & SORROWS

We Extend our Loving Support:

  • Please send healing thoughts and prayers to my dear friend, Eleanor who is battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She is a kind, gentle soul with a fierce passion for social justice.- Karen Pere Williams
  • Please hold my friend, Natasha and her family in your prayers. They recently lost their 18-year-old son, Timmy to an extremely rare genetic disorder. With his family’s love, along with outstanding medical care, Timmy was able to exceed his life expectancy by 13 years.-Karen Pere Williams
  • Ward Hammond asks for thoughts and prayers for his Aunt Gladys in Manning, SC. She is now recovering from surgery and doing well. Ward says, "She may be the sweetest lady I have ever known." Please shower virtual blessings!
  • Sharing the news that my dear friend of four decades, champion runner, cyclist, hiker & camper, Nancy Bell, died peacefully in Charleston on November 21st with close family at her bedside. She lived and loved hugely, was well-loved in return and is missed by so many friends and family alike. -Lynda Molnar
  •  I was just reminded that my favorite Beatle, George Harrison, passed away on November 29, 2001. My guitar still gently weeps.
