Switch to LED lights
LED holiday lights use up to 90% less electricity than standard incandescent lights. Although the initial cost of LED light strings is higher, they are sturdier and last up to 10x longer. Also, LED bulbs are cooler to the touch than incandescent bulbs, posing less risk of fire.

GRADUATE PROGRAMS & RESEARCH OPPORTUNITES

I seek an undergraduate student (sophomore-junior) to work remotely on a dataset project related to my long-term study of Octodon degus sociality. The student will build an Excel dataset on direct fitness (two metrics) and examine relationships between social and environmental variables and direct fitness. The project will run for ten weeks during summer 2020 (exact dates are negotiable). I aim to promote human diversity in STEM. Thus, priority will be given to qualified students who identify as a member of an under-represented minority group.
Please email a single PDF containing the following documents to Dr. Loren Hayes (loren-hayes@utc.edu) by 30 December 2020

  • One-page personal statement with relevant background and future goals
  • Unofficial academic transcripts
  • Resume with names and contact information of two people who can comment on your academic achievements and/or research experience
The application is available on our website: go.ncsu.edu/BITSURE
The deadline is February 14th, 2021.

We have recently put together a full introductory video, it is longer than any of our other videos but it gives a great amount of information about what we do and why
