What We've Been Up To

This weekend we organized a banner drop at Reconciliation Bridge and left signs outside TC Energy’s Calgary office in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en peoples of Central British Columbia and all other Indigenous Land Defenders across Turtle Island. We are acting in response to the Yintah Access Call To Action from the Wet’suwet’en Nation to demand that corporations and the Canadian government respect the rights and sovereignty of all Indigenous peoples. Specifically, we are supporting their right to protest against TC Energy’s Coastal Gaslink Pipeline. The history of large corporations’ and our own government’s mistreatment of Indigenous Peoples is extensive and we refuse to allow any more damage to be done.

We call upon TC Energy to respect Wet’suwet’en hereditary law and remove their workers from the Yintah immediately. These workers are not only problematic as their presence, amid the ever-worsening effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, are potentially extremely dangerous to those living near construction sites; but statistically will increase the likelihood of violence against Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people.

We put out an Instagram post with more details, you’ll find it in our “Latest Media & Blog Posts” section.

Weekly Strikes Are Cancelled Until Further Notice

Due to the continuous rise in COVID-19 cases in Calgary, and the new restrictions put in place by the government, we will not be holding any in person strikes until further notice. We will continue to keep our presence online strong, and we invite you to keep striking digitally with us! Stay tuned!

Tell the UCP what you Think of “Illegal Protest Groups” and Pipeline Blockades

Recently, the Alberta government put out a survey asking Albertans what we think about the recent blockades against the Trans Mountain Pipeline and protest groups like Extinction Rebellion, who they say are taking illegal actions.. This is your chance to tell them that these are genuine acts of peaceful protest, and must be respected. You can fill out the survey here.
