CalTeach Minor to CalTeach Credential
We've been receiving some questions about the CalTeach credential program in the CalTeach check-in survey (take it here). The pathway below shows the progression from minor to credential.
CALTEACH MINOR (link): You may complete the minor and declare it any time after you finish EDSTEM 82 or EDSTEM 82T. You do not need to be a STEM major to do the CalTeach minor!
CALTEACH CREDENTIAL (link): You may apply into the credential program if you complete the CalTeach minor. Please be sure to review the application checklist at least one semester prior to applying. You would need to be a STEM major or have taken the appropriate STEM course load. The credential program grants a preliminary CA STEM single-subject teaching credential.
If you have further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to calteach_peers@berkeley.edu or sign up for a Peer Advising appointment!

Job Opportunity
We are three Berkeley families, each with 6-year-old boys, looking for someone to both supervise their Zoom learning, assist with school homework, and provide some creative projects and outdoor games for our kids. The three kids have been rotating through our homes since school started, supervised by parents, but now that we are doing distance learning for potentially the remainder of the year, the adults need to get back to more focused work time and hire someone for some of the week. Our kids are motivated by school and also in need of some extra challenges projects. They love to build and explore. Our pod is indoors and our 3 families are extremely cautious in terms of Covid. We are looking for someone who is equally as cautious and is able to maintain a lifestyle that allows us to be safe for you and you to be safe for us. We are flexible on days/time but in general are looking for someone who is free 8:45-2:00 a few days a week. We prefer someone who is free for the remainder of the year.
You are:
* Experienced with young kids
* Comfortable working academically with kids and providing extra challenges and extensions when needed.
* Creative and have project ideas that you can independently organize.
* Loving yet strict, able to support a focused learning environment.

Land Acknowledgement
Thank you to the UC Berkeley Native American Student Development for the following statement:
We recognize that Berkeley sits on the territory of Huichin, the ancestral and unceded land of the Chochenyo Ohlone, the successors of the historic and sovereign Verona Band of Alameda County. This land was and continues to be of great importance to the Ohlone people. We recognize that every member of the Berkeley community has, and continues to benefit from the use and occupation of this land, since the institution’s founding in 1868. Consistent with our values of community and diversity, we have a responsibility to acknowledge and make visible the university’s relationship to Native peoples. By offering this Land Acknowledgement, we affirm Indigenous sovereignty and will work to hold University of California Berkeley more accountable to the needs of American Indian and Indigenous peoples.
Further Resources:
- UC Berkeley sits on xučyun (Huichin) land. Learn more on the NASD website.
- Listen to the Indigenous United Podcast by the NASD.
- Check what land you are currently occupying at https://native-land.ca/, a site created by Native Land Digital which invites non-Indigenous people to learn more about about the lands they inhabit, the history of those lands, and how to actively be part of a better future going forward.
