Our Palo Alto Reads series continues on Thursday, December 3 at 7 PM, with a Virtual Author Event featuring Jennifer Eberhardt, author of Biased. Join us for this discussion with Professor Eberhardt, moderated by Ralph Richard Banks, professor of law at the Stanford Law School and Ed Shikada, Palo Alto City Manager.

Jennifer Eberhardt
Jennifer Eberhardt is a social psychologist and professor at Stanford University. Her research investigates the consequences of the psychological association between race and crime. In addition to teaching at Stanford, she is also the co-founder and co-director of SPARQ, a university initiative to use social psychological research to address pressing social problems. 
Ralph Richard Banks
Ralph Richard Banks has been a member of the Stanford faculty since 1998. Professor Banks teaches and writes about family law, employment discrimination law and race and the law.
Ed Shikada
Ed Shikada has been the Palo Alto City Manager since December 2018, and has worked in Palo Alto in the dual role of Assistant City Manager and General Manager of the Utilities Department since 2015. Shikada is interested in engaging the Palo Alto city government and community to the topics discussed in Biased and in the previous Palo Alto Reads title, The Color of Law.
