Preparing for Christmas Mass

A Christmas time like no other is rapidly approaching. Because of the multiple restrictions caused by the pandemic, we are limited to 140 persons who can attend a Mass at Saint Mary’s, all masked and maintaining the required social distance.

Additionally, the normal demographic of our Parish includes many who go away for Christmas. That may change this year. Of course, there are many who do not yet feel safe returning to Church yet perhaps they will at Christmas.

All this is to say, developing a schedule of Masses for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day is a challenge.

Your feedback will help us in our planning. Please take a moment now to respond to the questionnaire here so that we can issue the schedule early next week.

In an effort to reassure everyone who does not feel safe or is not able to attend, we want to remind you that Cardinal Séan O’Malley has dispensed with the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days.

We will livestream a Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Mass which can be viewed live or recorded on our website www.stmarystcatherine.org for those who are not attending.

Also, we will ask all who plan to attend a Christmas Eve or Christmas Day Mass to reserve a seat online by registering for the Mass you plan to attend. Once we have a schedule, we will send it to you along with the instructions to register.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

In these days, it has been difficult for folks to be able to go to Confession, as many of the usual opportunities are unavailable. If you would like to go to Confession before Christmas, Confessions are available every Saturday at 3:15 before the 4pm Mass. You may also request an appointment forr Confession by calling the Parish Center (617-242-4664). We will be happy to schedule a time for you in a manner that will be convenient and safe.

Grand Annual Collection

To the many members of the Parish who have generously made a donation to the Grand Annual Collection - thanks so much! These are such challenging times for everyone and I am so appreciative of your efforts to support our Parish.

Advent Faith Groups on Zoom

Heavenly Father, instill in our hearts a spirit of love and compassion. May we foster a welcoming parish community with acceptance and respect for all. Inspire us to make a difference by being generous with our time and talents. Please send your Holy Spirit among us to remind us to follow Jesus and his teachings in all aspects of our lives. May we go forth and spread goodwill among our neighbors, friends, and fellow parishioners. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
