Together we can be the change we need.
This year has been unpredictable and unrelenting for all of us. We understand the harsh consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic experienced by families and individuals. That is why this year's Giving Tuesday is more important than ever.

In the last several months, we and the Mossawa Center engaged in our most vital work yet within the Palestinian Arab community in Israel. Over the past year, we had 3 election rounds and the Palestinian Arab community's voice was stronger than ever - we can't stop now! Here are some of the programs we carried out over the course of the year:
  • Supporting the only fisherwoman in Jisr azZarqa, the poorest and only remaining Palestinian Arab locality in Israel with a coastline, by standing against unjust demolitions in the village. As the Mossawa Center's flagship development project, we led the effort to establish a newly built early childhood and welfare center in the village.

  • Operating on a grassroots level to foster the future generation of Palestinian Arab advocates, and working with youth and women's rights groups to advocate for gender equality and empowering Palestinian Arab youth.

  • Fighting discrimination during the COVID-19 pandemic by pushing for the establishment of testing sites and facilities in Palestinian Arab localities, establishing a robust network to coordinate COVID-19 relief efforts, advocating for information availability in the Arabic language, and launching an awareness raising media campaign. We also secured food aid packages for over 700 Palestinian Arab families in need.

  • Solidarity building with other communities by marking the two-year anniversary of the passage of the discriminatory Nation-State Law, and outreaching to the Russian and Mizrahi communities in Israel, as well as the Jewish community in the United States by raising awareness to them about the status of Palestinian Arab citizens of Israel.

  • Advocating for fair state budget allocation in education, health, housing, industrial zones and employment by holding advocacy programs and workshops with local councils, civil society and Knesset Members on how to demand and secure funds for the Palestinian Arab community, demanding an increase to budgets allocated for the Palestinian Arab community, pushing for the establishment of industrial zones in Palestinian Arab localities, and hosting our annual State budget and Economic Development Conference.

  • Combating police brutality and violence against Palestinian Arab citizens of Israel.

  • Raising awareness among the international community about the status and demands of the Palestinian Arab community in Israel by meeting with Ambassadors and foreign officials including US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

  • Establishing the Carmel Center as a cultural and civil society hub within the Palestinian Arab community. The Mossawa Center hosted a cultural and artistic festival aimed at combatting core issues within the community and promoting Palestinian art and culture.

Will you join us in empowering the Palestinian Arab community in Israel?

Your support is integral to our work both in Israel and abroad. By making a contribution to our organization, you will help Palestinian Arabs in Israel come one step closer to fulfilling their civil and human rights.

Thank you for all your support and solidarity to our cause. We hope you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Suha Salman Mousa
