RSVP for Sunday Morning Services
Christmas is always a great time to invite friends and family to one of our Christmas services to hear about the hope we have in Jesus, and this year is no different. Our Carols event on December 13th and our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services located at Rosalie School are outdoors events and are not subject to the building restrictions of our current Sunday services. Also, for our Christmas services that are in the building (Christmas Eve 11pm and Christmas Day 8am) we are setting up a larger overflow in the back hall, so there is lots of room to invite friends and family to any of our Christmas events.
The Season of Advent
The Christian celebration of Advent, which simply means "coming", emerged in the church in the 4th or 5th Century.  It is a season of expectation and preparation as the church celebrates the coming of Christ, the light of hope into the darkness of this world.

St Matthew's produces a booklet of 24 Advent Readings every year to help us reflect on the story of our Saviour's birth. Pick one up this Sunday, or click on the image to download your own copy and join the St Matthew's family as we prepare to celebrate His coming this Christmas season.
Sharing the Joy of Christmas Day Together
Christmas can be a great time to extend hospitality to others. This happens informally every year at St Matthew’s and we wish to encourage that to continue.

2020 is a year when many people who might normally be able to go and be with family interstate or overseas, will instead be in Perth.

We don’t want anyone who’d like to share Christmas Day with St Matt’s family to be alone. If you’d like to offer hospitality for Christmas lunch or dinner and you’re not sure who to invite, or you’d like to join others for a meal on Christmas Day, please let one of our staff know.

We will then be in touch with those who are offering hospitality so they can invite people to their home. Whether you are a host, or a guest, simply let one of the staff know over the next few weeks (no later than Sunday 6th December). If you’d rather express your interest online, you can do that here or click the image above.

Useful Christmas Gifts
Christmas is a wonderful time where we as Christians celebrate God's kindness to us in giving us Jesus. It's also a time when our culture spends millions on giving gifts to each other. We would love you to take this opportunity to give friends and family a gift that will help change the lives of others living in poverty around the world in Jesus' name.

Through Compassion Australia you can give a needy family overseas a gift (like a goat, a mosquito net, or vaccinations), and you get a card to give to your friend or family which explains that the gift you got them is overseas helping improve lives in Jesus' name.

You can read more about the Gifts of Compassion project, and see the full list of gifts for purchase at this link.
