New Young Lives findings
Young Lives have published the findings of their second phone survey, showing that the knock-on effects of COVID are impacting young people living in rural areas and in the poorest households most in their study countries, with many reporting high levels of anxiety and depression.

Vulnerability index in Honduras
The Government of Honduras has launched a Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (MVI), developed in partnership with OPHI, to provide electronic vouchers for food, medicines and biosafety equipment targeted at those hit hardest by the pandemic.

New book chosen among best of 2020 
A forthcoming book by Professor Diego Sánchez-Ancochea, The Costs of Inequality in Latin America: Lessons and Warnings for the Rest of the World has been selected as one of the best economics books of 2020 by Martin Wolf of the Financial Times. 
 

Xiaolan Fu speaks on STI and COVID
Xiaolan Fu spoke at a joint UN General Assembly and ECOSOC meeting on 'Developing Sustainable Infrastructure and Utilizing Science and Technology in Response to COVID-19'. Access the programme and concept note.

ODID wins Athena Bronze award 
We are delighted to have been successful in our application for an Athena Swan Bronze award, which recognises departmental efforts in promoting gender equality and provides a framework for future action. The award forms part of broader efforts to promote diversity. 
 

Film about refugee shelter wins AHRC prize
Shelter without Shelter, a documentary by Tom Scott-Smith of the RSC with Mark E Breeze of Cambridge University, has won the Best Research Film award in the 2020 AHRC Research in Film awards. Watch the excerpt above and read more.

A new book by Xiaolan Fu investigates the nature, drivers, and sources of innovation in Africa by examining the channels for effective diffusion of innovation in and to Africa under institutional, resource and affordability constraints.
