CELEBRATING 5-YEARS WITH TREEFOLKS
As an agency charged with enhancing quality of life through greater mobility, the Mobility Authority understands and embraces the role our environment plays in balancing infrastructure needs with overall regional health. We mindfully practice environmental stewardship from conception of our projects through construction and beyond, working to balance the various needs of Central Texans.
Doing this work successfully, however, requires bridging expertise and uniting resources. TreeFolks is a local organization that educates and empowers our community through planting and caring for trees. It is the only nonprofit dedicated to community reforestation in Austin – and the benefit of trees to our environment and our community cannot be underestimated. Planting trees is one of the most efficient and cost-effective means of capturing carbon, increasing stormwater retention, and reducing energy costs.
This year, the Mobility Authority and TreeFolks are celebrating a prosperous 5-year partnership. Together, we’ve preserved and expanded our urban tree canopy here in Central Texas and along Mobility Authority project corridors, including the addition of 10,000 trees. We’re delighted with what we have been able to accomplish – and to commemorate this milestone, we have created an interactive infographic for your viewing.
