Capturing holiday memories is going to be a little different this year …

They'll probably be laid-back but can be magical if you plan for how to adapt.

Part of the mix for capturing your holiday memories can still include professional portraits.

A virtual photoshoot is an option if you don't want to leave your home. Remote family members can also have a virtual photoshoot wherever they are to capture this same moment in time for everyone.

Whether you hire a photographer or take the DIY route you can adapt these to virtual or in-person photoshoots.

Here are some tips for taking your holiday photos.

  1. Plan your wardrobe. It makes such a difference to coordinate colors and styles. Maybe you want white and red for winter or gold and silver for New Years. Use your imagination and fit the palette to your theme.

  2. Find a fun or interesting location that will say something about who you and your mates are in the photo.

  • Getting out and about may not be an option this year so find something fun in or around your home.
  • Props can be helpful too.  How about matching pajamas, jump into a cozy bed, and have kids serve breakfast? A perfect Rockwell portrait.
  1. Eat! Plan the photoshoot during the day at a time where everyone has eaten (you don't want low blood sugar to ruin the event) especially the kids.

  2. Come rested. Make sure babies and anyone who needs a nap has had their nap. It's stressful on everyone when little babies are fussing.

  3. Let’s talk pets. If you intend to have your pet part of the photo tire them out before your photoshoot. Bring treats and bribe the pup to behave.

If you hire a photographer they can help you with these decisions which will take one more activity off your list.

Plus more time to pursue cyber sales and get your gifts all planned out.

Plan a virtual photoshoot and save even more time. No long drives to a studio or other location. Easy peasy.

We all know that the holidays can be very stressful.

Make your appointment now for your photoshoot and take it off your to-do list.

Less stress, happy photos!

Get in touch if that's something you'd like to consider. By the way it doesn't matter if you're in Arizona or Timbuktu - virtual works anywhere if you have a mobile phone with a reasonable camera. Plus, they are NOT screen shots.
