Dear Parents and Guardians,

This year we will be collecting items to decorate our 'Giving Tree'. Rather than decorating our Christmas tree with ornaments, we will be decorating it with items that will later be donated to those in need. Please send in gloves, hats, face masks, and socks for our Giving Tree.

In preparation for the weeks ahead, we are sending Intent Forms. This is not a registration form. These forms simply help us project our enrollment and tuition rates for the next school year. We need to hear from every family by Wednesday, December 9th. Please click here to complete.

Now that colder weather is here to stay, please know that if there is a school closing due to inclement weather, we will send out a message via Remind and an email. Our school website will also contain information on the main page, under News and Announcements. In addition, our answering machine will also have a message with detailed information in case of a school delay or closing. You may also watch WNDU16, WSBT22 and ABC57 for Holy Cross Grade School delays and/or closings. Please note we do not follow South Bend Community School Corporation or any other Catholic School closings.

If we need to close school because of inclement weather, we will transition to eLearning for all students.  In addition to the school’s general announcement, by 7:45 a.m. your child’s teacher will send a separate message via Remind and/or email with instructions on how your child should participate in eLearning.  Each teacher will have a live morning session scheduled for eLearning days and students will be counted present for attendance during their morning session with the teacher.  Independent work for the day can then be completed at any time after the morning session.  We do understand that not every family has a computer for every child in the house and have taken this into consideration.  If there is no way for you to have your child participate in eLearning on a snow day, it will be your responsibility to let your child’s teacher know that when you receive his/her text in the morning.

Lastly, one gentle reminder to be on time. School starts at 8:00 a.m. if you will be tardy/absent please call our school office to inform them.

This week, our 3rd grade class will plan and attend the mass with the Kindergarten and 1st grade Traditional classes. If you have a child in any of those grades, you are welcome to come and celebrate Mass in the church, otherwise you can view the live-stream Mass via Zoom. Please look for the link later in this newsletter.

Have a great week!

Queridos padres y guardianes,

It’s been a great joy to see more of our parishioners retuning to Sunday Mass these past few months. At the same time, the majority of parishioners have understandably chosen to not yet return to Mass due to age, health conditions, caring for elderly parents or young children, or other valid and important reasons. If you are in this group, I hope that you are continuing to find other means of nourishing your spiritual lives, such as through our livestreamed 10:30 am mass and other liturgical celebrations on line, the Saturday Jesus Gallery open house, prayer, scripture and spiritual reading at home, and other practices that are supporting you spiritually. For those who feel comfortable doing so, remember that we are gathering in the church every Monday at 7:00 pm for the Holy Hour with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, and every first Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm for recitation of the Rosary (which will take place every Thursday during Advent). Of course we also celebrate Mass on Monday through Saturday at 8:30 am. All these liturgies are offered in the church to ensure social distancing. Please know that I continue to remember all our parishioners in my prayer, especially at daily and Sunday masses. I’m sure we are longing for the time when we can all safely gather together at Sunday Mass again. In the meantime, please be sure to tend to your spiritual life and well-being.
