After a scary and at times frustrating year XMAS and the Summer Holidays are just around the corner! We thought you might like to know when we'll be open over Xmas and what else is coming up:

DEBORAH LOUIE BOOK LAUNCH

Due to popular demand, domestic machine quilting guru Deborah Louie, has updated and re-released her walking foot theory booklet! It is now a fabulous 60 page full colour book titled: Let's Quilt The Theory of Walking Foot Quilting.

Join us to celebrate its launch!
Deb will be in store from 10am to 12pm on Wed 23rd December for a morning tea and signing.

Come along and meet the author and pick up the perfect last minute Xmas present for yourself OR the aspiring new quilter in your life!!

The 60 full colour page book is packed with practical step by step instructions to domestic machine quilt all of your quilts with ease and professionism. It is priced at $45.00 and suitable for all brands of machines.

The book will be available to purchase in store anytime from the 23rd and we will be able to post out if you can't make it to the signing. Just reply to this email and we will get it organised.

CHRISTMAS TIME BREAK

The last day our shop will be open before Xmas will be Wednesday 23rd December. Make sure you have all your holiday needs before then because we will be closed for a break until we re-open on Saturday 2nd January.

JAPAN IN BERRY EVENT

MARK YOUR CALENDAR for the 22nd, 23rd and 24th Jan 2021
This is going to be our very special summer event! JAPAN IN BERRY!

Our friends Shuji and Alison Yamazaki from Wabi-Sabi Designs are prevented from running their usual textile tours to Japan this January and we are all sadly prevented from travelling to Japan for the unforeseeable future. We did a bit of creative thinking and thought we'd combine forces, try something new and bring Japan to Berry this summer. maybe you'd like to come along with us too!

For three days we will have a display of Japanese inspired Boro stitched work by our Teacher Jennifer Corkish and her students. There will be a display of quilts made using Japanese fabric, Sashiko panels or motifs. Shuji and Alison will have their amazing stall Wabi Sabi Designs stall on site stocked with all things Japanese! Fabric, kimonos, raw materials for indigo dyeing and indigo dyeing kits and equipment and much more!! The event will be held between the Berry Uniting Church Main Hall, across the road from the shop and our store. Over the three days of the event we will also have a great program of Japanese inspired workshops:

HELEN DRAPER IN QUILTERS COMPANION

Exciting news that our teacher Helen Draper has another quilt featured in the current issue of the Quilters Companion magazine. Congratulations Helen!! Isn't it a beauty! Hoopla is a hand pieced scrappy quilt which has a lovely secondary pattern of interlocking circles. This version features Jen Kingwell's bright and happy retro fabrics for Moda but would look equally amazing in a two colour palette or totally scrappy.

The pattern and instructions are printed in the magazine and Helen will be teaching this quilt along with many of her other designs in her regular By Hand Class at Berry Quilt & Co when regular classes resume for the year in Feb 2021. Helen's popular Fanciful Quilt was also featured in the 2021 Quilter's Companion Diary! YAY!! Way to go Helen!!

PAST TIMES RE-RELEASED

Lynne Wilson has updated her eternally popular Past Times Pattern. Hanging in the store for you to view is the NEW cover quilt featuring Anna Maria Horner's fabrics and we have stocked up on the new version of the pattern. For a treat, look at this amazing version all in Japanese fabrics finished this month by Katriona Thompson and quilted by Maxine Sandry. Isn't it a beauty! SO INSPIRING! (I hope Katriona will let us show it for Japan in Berry!)

We have kits available in store for both colour ways! This is such an amazingly versatile pattern. It looks equally wonderful in shabby chic florals or soft pretties like French General. Designed using Fat Quarters; pick up the pattern, it's a great stash buster!! Thanks again Lynne for a fabulous easy to make design!

TILDA WOODLAND RANGE

Get excited about the NEW Tilda fabric WOODLAND coming in January. This is the first FULL Tilda range we have purchased in a while and it promises to be another sell out like a few of our recent ranges so preorder if interested! The headline Woodland tree and first animal prints are to die for and the coordinates will look at home in any soft and pretty project. the colours are soft and gentle pink, blue, lavender, teal and olive but are saved from being insipid by the use of punchy carmine and magenta! 2021 CLASS CALENDAR

Keep your eye out for Jan newsletter as it will have all the details of the 2021 class calendar. There will be a new schedule of classes with our regular tutors which begin in late Jan & early February and we will announce our program of visiting tutors who teach special projects or techniques in a one-off classes. Organisation of many of these are underway but if you are after anything particular please let us know and we will see what we can do!

PHYSICAL DISTANCING EASES

Restrictions that have been applied to our spaces have eased slightly.

We have increased to 8 people at a time in the classroom space, depending on the activity. We have increased to 6 at a time in the shop area. We ask for your patience and co-operation as we try to protect everyone's health.

We also ask that once you are inside the store or classroom you continue to be vigilant and maintain a 1.5m distance between other shoppers and from staff. As is consistent with all govt health advice PLEASE do not enter the shop with any cold or flu symptoms!

Occasionally there my be a small wait outside the store if too many are trying to shop at once. This is a regrettable inconvenience! Please be assured that we are trying to help everyone as quickly and efficiently as we can during these times but sometimes it can't be helped.

DON'T FORGET: GENERAL OPENING HOURS

We’ve been closed on Tuesdays for nearly 5 years now and recently have trialled being closed on Sundays. This has worked well allowing us to have more staff on at once to help you out during the week! So Sunday closure has become permanent. We're hoping you don't forget this when you make the trip to Berry!!
