Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year!

Welcome to our last newsletter for 2020. We know this year has been particularly difficult for most people, and we hope you are able to see loved ones during the festive season and at least have a small celebration. We would like to wish you all the best for 2021, when we hope things will start to get back to normal, especially now that there are some promising vaccines on the horizon.

Regardless of the coronavirus pandemic, 2020 has been a busy year for KCSN members: We have launched our exciting new video project on the website and YouTube, made numerous applications to NICE and the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC), been involved with a virtual World Kidney Cancer Day, and a virtual International Kidney Cancer Coalition conference. Although, as you can expect, fundraising activities have declined considerably.

Support over the Christmas holidays
Christmas and the coronavirus pandemic can be a difficult time for some people. If you are struggling, please remember you can always find someone to talk to within the KCSN community. Our Facebook groups are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and members are active at all times of day and night. Our groups are managed by the patients or carers themselves; this is a very special community who truly understand what it is like living with the emotional and physical effects of kidney cancer. This can be a comfort if you need support and information over the Christmas holidays.

KCSN Christmas Cards

Our digital Christmas cards are still available to send to friends and family through the Virgin Money Giving platform. You can donate as much or as little as you want to KCSN using the 'Virtual Christmas Card Campaign'. Search for Kidney Cancer Support Network to make your donation. The funds raised will be used to reinforce our patient support services and help keep them going throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

You can choose from six designs, two of which are shown above, add your message, and then share the goodwill with everyone you know on Facebook, Twitter or WhatsApp.

We appreciate the help of our community and want to continue to provide support to an extensive network of kidney cancer patients, carers and families across the UK. And we are very grateful to Alison Fielding and Jo King for allowing us to use their photographs for our Christmas cards this year.

IKCC Global Patient Survey

The International Kidney Cancer Coalition (IKCC) is running a survey to collect the experiences and insights of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will help highlight best practices and the unmet needs of patients related to access to care, quality of life and involvement in clinical trials.

With this information, IKCC and the KCSN will better understand the challenges patients and carers face and focus on initiatives that will ultimately help improve the lives of people living with kidney cancer.

The survey is open until Tuesday 5 January 2021.

If you have any questions about the survey, please email us

We hope you have the best possible Christmas and we send our very best wishes for 2021!
