Spotlight: Section 230

A consistent talking point of President Trump has been Section 230, and what he sees as tech companies being biased against him. He complained about this on Facebook and Twitter yesterday, and threatened to veto a National Defense Authorization Act if it did not include a termination of Section 230.

This complaint has received 360k engagements on Facebook and more than 250k on Twitter. Trump's move was mostly backed by his supporters, including Lou Dobbs and Graham Allen.

It did also generate conversation on Twitter about what Section 230 means, with commentary from Justin Amash and the WSJ's Lindsay Wise.

This is not the first time that Trump and Republicans have targeted Section 230. Trump himself floated this national security framework earlier this week, while the Senate held a hearing on Section 230 with tech CEOs at the end of October.

The AP's report about Attorney General Barr saying there was no evidence of voter fraud was also a big narrative for the day, as was a potential presidential pardon bribery scheme reported by CNN and NBC.
