Crime Burst – Make Sure You’re Keeping Safe

Hello <<First Name>>,

The holidays are in full swing and it’s so encouraging to see the spirit of the holidays showing up early through lights and inflatable decorations.  Hope you will join in the community celebration and put out your holiday decorations.

We want to make sure you are keeping your family and home safe during the holidays.  At our recent PVE Neighborhood Watch Annual Meeting, Captain Hellinga noted that crime has been down in PVE because so many people are home.  However, once daylight savings goes away, crime can jump because the “bad guys” note that homes are dark because residents haven’t updated their timed lights.  We had break-ins starting as of this past week.  Make sure you make your home look lived in when you are away.  If you see something—say something.  If you see anything suspicious, please call our PVE PD Non-Emergency Number 310-378-4211.

Crime Burst in PVE – Let’s Keep Safe and Keep the Numbers Down

from Captain Hellinga, PVEPD

Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, there were three residential burglaries reported to the PVEPD. After analyzing the information, the PVEPD would like to inform the public for their awareness.

The three locations were the 2300 block of Via Pinale, 3800 block of Paseo Del Campo and the 900 block of Paseo La Cresta. All three were during the evening hours and it is possible that suspects are looking for houses without any interior lights on, which would indicate to them that nobody is home. All three reported burglaries occurred at homes that were adjacent to open parkland and nobody was home at the time the crimes occurred. No suspect description can be made available to the public at this time in order to maintain the integrity of the activate investigation. The PVEPD detective bureau is working hard on the investigation and collaborating with neighboring agencies. PVEPD will be deploying extra officers in an effort to suppress these types of crimes.

The PVEPD is reminding the community to be vigilant in securing your home, turning your alarm on, setting appropriate lighting and reporting any suspicious activity to us. If you would like us to conduct a home security assessment, please contact Captain Luke Hellinga at 310-750-9835 or lhellinga@pvestates.org.
