Free Learning Series, “Little Kids, Big World,” Featured at North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum

BISMARCK, N.D. – Toddlers and preschoolers are invited to the free interactive learning series, “Little Kids, Big World,” at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum. These interactive 30-minute programs introduce children to North Dakota’s fascinating history. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

"Little Kids, Big World" classes are offered in a large public space with social distancing considerations. Each child is provided with their own supplies. Masks are required in the ND Heritage Center & State Museum for all adults and children age five and up. Visitors are asked to follow state and local mandates and the CDC's recommendations on social distancing and personal hygiene.

The programs are Saturdays and Sundays at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Children and their parents or guardians are asked to meet at the east entrance information desk.

Jan. 3 "Snowman Matching." Learn about matching using objects in the State Museum. Then, practice matching using paper snowmen.
Jan. 9 "Dinosaur Dig." Join a winter dinosaur dig in the museum. Preregistration is required at shsnd.eventbrite.com.
Jan. 10 "Where Did the Dinosaurs Go?" Learn about the possible ways dinosaurs became extinct and make a related science project.
Jan. 16 "STEM Snowball Fight." Enjoy a fun and safe indoor snowball fight using science.
Jan. 18 "It's Time for Ice." Special Monday program at 9 and 10 a.m. Experiment with different ways to make ice melt.
Jan. 23 "Design Your Own Winter Gear." Design winter clothing to keep you warm as the State Museum prepares to open a new exhibit dedicated to clothing for all seasons.
Jan. 24 "Build a Snowflake." Every snowflake pattern is unique. See the different patterns in the museum and make your own snowflakes.
Jan. 30 "Snowstorm in a Jar." Learn the history behind some of North Dakota's biggest snowstorms and make a snowstorm in a jar.
