COVID-19 DECISION TREE

In the event that your child tests positive for COVID-19 or is identified as a direct contact, our school nurses and administration will partner with you to determine the appropriate time for your child to return to face-to-face instruction with their classmates and teachers. This decision tree will give you an idea of when your child may return to school, and all decisions will be finalized with our school nurses. Please notify Lower School Nurse Jessica Rogers and Middle and Upper School Nurse Meredith Hawks as soon as possible if your child begins exhibiting COVID-19-like symptoms or learns that they were exposed to COVID-19.

2021-2022 CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTS

As we look ahead to the new year, Whitefield is already planning for the 2021-2022 school year. Click here to view calendar highlights for the following school year.

FINANCIAL AID FOR 2021-2022

If you are interested in applying for financial aid for the 2021-2022 school year, the application process is open. The deadline for submitting financial aid applications for current students returning next year is December 31, 2020. All requirements must be completed on time to be considered for assistance. Late and/or incomplete applications will be considered for aid in March along with the newly-admitted students for 2021-2022. Please contact Fran Banta for more information.

NON-CONTACT SERVICE OPPORTUNITY: SNACK BAGS
MUST Ministries is working to bring snack bags to kids in need in the local community who are learning virtually. Middle and Upper School students can earn community service hours over Christmas break by putting together snack bags for MUST Ministries. In Ziplock or brown paper bags, include:

  • a bag of chips or crackers
  • a fruit cup
  • a wrapped treat (cookies, gummies, etc.)
  • a granola bar

When you return from Christmas break, you can bring the bags to Mr. Holthus' room in the mods. Please label the bags with a post-it note with your name and grade on it. Four snack bags is equal to one service hour, with a limit of five service hours (20 bags max).

WINTER BASEBALL CAMP

Athletes in grades 1-6 are invited to attend Whitefield's Winter Baseball Camp led by Head Coach Mike Shaheen and varsity baseball players. Prepare for the upcoming baseball season and have fun! MIDDLE SCHOOL AND VARSITY GOLF INTEREST FORMS

Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grader who would like to play golf for the upcoming spring, please take a few minutes and fill out the Middle School interest form. Any 5th grade students are welcome to sign up as well; however, 6th through 8th grade students will take precedence in playing matches during the season. Upper School students interested in varsity golf should fill out the varsity interest form. If you have any questions, please contact Coach David.

PARENT PRAYER WALK
January 7, 8:30-9:00 a.m. in Whitefield's Grand Amphitheater
All parents are invited to join us on a Prayer Walk to start the new year! QR codes on campus will share the detailed prayer requests for each division. While this casual, self-guided walk can take place on campus, those who can't make it are encouraged to pray from home. No RSVP necessary. For questions, please contact Allison Duncanson.

MONDAYS WITH MOMS RETURNS
Monday, January 11, 9-10 a.m. via Zoom
Join us virtually on January 11 for an informational session about Mondays with Moms in 2021. The group offers an opportunity for moms to study God’s Word while connecting with other Whitefield moms. We will give an overview of the program and teaching, Psalm 119 with Matt Chandler, for 2021 and will meet every Monday (excluding school holidays) through April. You do not have to participate every week; we would love to see you whenever you are able to join.
Zoom meeting code: 87323840311
Password: sprtlife

Psalm 119 with Matt Chandler Overview:

Even the most mature believers face dark nights of the soul. During those times God seems distant, his Word feels dry, and the vibrant intimacy we knew before seems absent leaving us wondering, “Where is the Lord in this?” In Psalm 119, Matt Chandler aims to introduce viewers to the words of King David who experienced similar seasons of life.

MEN'S FRATERNITY
Fridays, 6 a.m. via Zoom
Whitefield Men’s Fraternity brings men together in fellowship to strengthen our relationships with our families, whom we are called to lead courageously with Jesus Christ as our cornerstone.  Men's Fraternity is looking forward to meeting in person again but is continuing to build community with our dads virtually. We've recently been studying an excellent video series by Dr. Tony Evans and Tim Tebow as we continue our quest to strengthen our families and communities in Christ. Reach out to Jason Watson if you want to be added to our mailing and meeting list. We look forward to seeing you soon!

CHRISTMAS CHAPELS

Whitefield's annual All-School Christmas Chapel last week was a beautiful opportunity to focus on Christ and the incredible gift of His love! Click here to view the virtual chapel, complete with a nativity play by kindergarten, interpretive dance from three Upper School students, vocal performances by Steve and Corrie Henson, and special messages from faculty members. Thank you to all the students, faculty, and staff that contributed their talents in bringing glory to our Savior this Christmas season!

Today, the Lower School is celebrating their final school day of 2020 with a Lower School Christmas Chapel. Click here to enjoy a heartwarming snapshot of our Lower School family.

SPOTIFY

Ever wonder what song your child is humming under their breath after chapel? Check out Whitefield's Spotify playlist, Chapel Worship Music, to listen and enjoy the chapel praise and worship songs from home, in your car, or on the go!

SPOTLIGHT ON THE ARTS - CHRISTMAS CONCERTS!
Join us in celebrating the Christmas season with the Middle and Upper School Christmas Concert! Listen to the orchestra perform traditional Christmas carols, experience the new addition of a xylophone ensemble and ukulele band, hear the soothing sound of hand chimes and hand bells, and watch the percussion ensemble play a special STOMP-style Christmas beat. Great job to all of our Middle and Upper School musicians, and thank you for sharing your talents with the Whitefield community!

PreK through 4th grade have been working hard this year to prepare for the Lower School Christmas Concert! While we were not able to gather in person for this event, students loved getting to snuggle up with their families at

home and watch the beautiful works of art they created, listen to the Christmas songs, and enjoy the storytelling and acting. Also, 2nd through 10th grade created this peaceful video to the song Still, Still, Still.

The Whitefield Jazz Band would like to spread some Christmas cheer to our community by sharing their jazzy Christmas renditions. Click here to listen and download Winter Wonderland by Jaden Davis-King (11th), Christmas Song by Kara Martin (12th), and many more!

GEOMETRY GINGERBREAD
Sweet sugary surface area! Mrs. Jones' Geometry class puts their visual-spatial skills to the test in this competition to build a structurally-sound gingerbread house. Congratulations to winners Taylor Harty (10th), Jay Decker (9th), and Emma Vreeland (9th) for their award-winning gingerbread houses (pictured above).

WOLFPACK CHEERLEADING
Congrats to Whitefield cheerleading for an awesome season! With 65 athletes ranging from grades 5th through 12th, the WolfPack cheer program continues strong. The 5th/6th grade team was the largest it has ever been with a total of 27 girls - that's a lot of spirit! This

served as a platform for shaping the foundation of what we hope will be a love for school spirit for years to come. All football cheerleading squads were able to take the spirit on the road and travel to away games to support the Pack, serving as spirit ambassadors for our school and lead with joy and dignity. We are especially grateful for our six seniors (Anna Ayalew, Haley Burgess, Anna Cochran, Siri Gulledge, Annalee Neese, and Elizabeth Lyster) who brought an incredible amount of experience and leadership to the program. Coaches Rachel Bassing (JV), Jessica Vaughan (7/8), and Jennifer Whitaker (5/6) deserve special recognition for collaborating to pull off a outstanding 5th-12th grade fall pep rally at the WolfPack Stadium. All teams came together for ONE WHITEFIELD!

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHRISTMAS COMPETITIONS

Founder's Hall Middle School building is bursting with festivity! Middle School students tried to outdo one another with an Ugly Christmas Sweater challenge, and Advisory groups competed to decorate the hallways and doors in the "Deck the Doors" contest organized by Middle School Student Government. Congratulations to the winners:

  • Mrs. Brewer’s advisory: overall winner (pictured above)
  • Mr. Mudd’s advisory: 8th grade boys winner
  • Mrs. Henson’s advisory: 8th grade girls winner
  • Mrs. Carmichael’s advisory: 7th grade winner
  • Mrs. Figaretti’s advisory: 6th grade winner
  • Mrs. Dixon’s advisory: 5th grade winner

A very merry Christmas to all of our Middle School students!

ALUMNI PEN PAL
Behind the mask is a BIG smile because 4th grader Hudson Cusumano received a response from his Whitefield Academy Alumni pen pal. Thanks, Ian Kennedy ('20), for sharing your advice and college experience with Hudson! 3rd and 4th graders write letters of encouragement to our freshmen alumni as part of their service project. Our Lower School students are excited to look up their alumni in a previous yearbook to see what they were interested in, if they played a sport, etc. and pray over their letters before mailing them to alumni.
