THE FINAL STRETCH

It feels surreal that I am writing a newsletter to close out the year. For a year that many of us could not wait to end, it went by much quicker than I could've ever anticipated. The past 12 months have thrown us plenty of curveballs, and I think it is time for us to close out the year on a high note. Now more than ever, we should be looking for reasons to celebrate, and finding inventive ways to stay positive and connected. To do my part, I am hosting a virtual holiday concert TONIGHT! Monday, December 21st at 7pm, you can find me and my good friend Marcos LeBlanc performing our favorite Christmas songs on Facebook Live. Join us on my Facebook page to take part in the celebration.

EXTRAORDINARY SESSION

COVID-19 has impacted every corner of Colorado and Pueblo is no exception. With businesses struggling to keep doors open, families fighting to keep the roof over their head and food on the table, students falling behind in school, healthcare workers bravely working to save lives and no help in sight from D.C., it was time for us to get to work in the legislature.

On November 30th, the Colorado General Assembly reconvened an Extraordinary Session in order to provide pandemic related relief to Coloradans across the state. Over the course of three days, we passed bipartisan bills that support small businesses, increase access to childcare and food assistance, help cover housing and utility costs, boost students' access to broadband internet and much more.

We might not have the financial might that Congress has in Washington D.C., but we worked together to put what we do have to good use. Click the links below to explore the relief options.

SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER
Last week, I joined Pueblo Santa Clause, Ray Aguilera, as he and many volunteers distributed over 500 potica, 500 turkeys, 500 mauro cookies and more than 2 tons of potatoes to those in need. I am proud to be from a community that puts in so much work to spread holiday cheer!
My colleagues re-elected me as President of the Senate. I am humbled to have the support of such an accomplished, intelligent and thoughtful group of leaders. When I reflect on the previous two years as Senate President, I am immensely proud of what we have been able to achieve as a team. I stand ready along with my colleagues in the Senate to tackle some of Colorado’s biggest challenges, together. Thank you for trusting me with this immense responsibility, and thank you for recognizing that Pueblo’s unique perspective needs to be heard loud and clear in the Senate.
This year has not been easy, but I want to remind everyone that I am here to be a resource for you. If you have any issues, comments, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office. You can contact us via phone at 303-866-4878 and by email at senleroygarcia@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Leroy Garcia
