Back Together 304 Updates from Superintendent

Greetings Geneva 304 community members,

As we move closer to the end of the year, we reflect on where we have been and what may lie ahead.

If you are reading this, it is because you played some role this year in the life of a student or in our school community, and for that we thank you. For the times we asked for grace and you gave it, and for the times we held out a hand in partnership and you grasped it — these were the significant moments that helped us move forward in our plans to educate students, while keeping health and safety in focus. Thank you for your partnership and support.

Looking ahead and planning for a successful start to 2021, we would like to share the following information:

What we ask of you:

Continue to report to us.* Please call your school’s attendance line during Winter Break if:

  • Your child or anyone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in isolation; OR
  • Your child is a close contact to a confirmed case/has been told to quarantine.

*This information is important to us in our planning and maintaining safety in our schools.

Practice the Three Ws: Wear a Mask. Wash Your Hands. Watch Your Distance. The Illinois Department of Public Health has created a website dedicated to tips and ideas for celebrating safely, which can be found at this link. The Kane County Health Department also has shared tips at this link. Keeping people safe is very important and helps us continue hybrid in-person education.

What we are committed to:

We will continue to track data that informs decision-making for the District. Due to the holidays, we will be updating the COVID-19 Dashboard on Wednesdays, rather than Fridays. As we have previously communicated, our plan is to return to in-person/hybrid learning on Monday, Jan. 4. If there is any change in the current plans to return to our educational models on Jan. 4, you will be informed no later than the end of the day Wednesday, Dec. 30. While right now, we are not seeing indicators that would change our plans, we continue to ask for your flexibility.

Thank you in advance for your continued grace and partnership in the new year, so that we can continue to achieve our goals to serve students. We wish you a very safe winter break filled with much-deserved comfort and peace.

Sincerely,
Dr. Kent Mutchler
