Happy Holidays!
As we enter into the winter break, this season, especially this year, is filled with lots of heaviness. Many of us have lost loved ones, have had our lives impacted in unexpected ways, and the future is uncertain. As a Viking community, please know that we are all here for each other and that we are stronger together. We will continue to make the best of every situation and I look forward to continuing to lead North to not just be an incredible school, but to be an incredible school community where everyone belongs. I wish health and safety to all of you and we will be in touch again in the new year!

Al entrar en las vacaciones de invierno, esta temporada, especialmente este año, está llena de mucha pesadez. Muchos de nosotros hemos perdido a seres queridos, nuestras vidas se han visto afectadas de formas inesperadas y el futuro es incierto. Friday, December 18 - No Scheduled Classes
There are no scheduled classes for Friday, December 18. Students can work to finish assignments or work with teachers to be supported with unfinished learning. If there is not this work to be done, students can begin their vacation - make sure they have finished the Fall Semester Survey!
Semester 2 Details
Thank you for all of the feedback that you have provided related to scheduling for Semester 2. CLICK HERE for an overview slide deck with details related to what to expect. We will be in touch with more details when we return in January. Here are the highlights:
- Classes - Students will take 4 classes at one time starting with periods 1,3,5, and 7 from January 5 - March 12. Even periods will take place March 15 - May 28.
- Schedule - We will follow essentially the same schedule to the one that we have right now, but students will attend their classes every day, so they will see their odd period classes Mon - Thu.
- Fridays - Fridays will be more flexible to meet individual needs of students. We will provide club opportunities, student support sessions, and other learning opportunities like career and college advising.
- In Person Learning Schedule Change - When we are allowed to return to in person learning (the earliest date being January 19), we plan to shift to a different schedule that allows for students to have all their classes before lunch since there are many complications with in person lunch. All students, whether they are remote or in person will follow the same schedule.

Finishing Incomplete Learning
Students who do not earn credit for classes this semester can still earn credit for their class! If students have not finished work or assignments, please work with them to do this work and engage in this learning over break as DPS has provided flexibility to have grade changes knowing that many students and families are experiencing unprecedented hardships.
Mental Health Resources Over Break
North High School’s staff and faculty thank you all for doing your best and staying connected through this unprecedented semester and wish you a healthy and happy Winter Break. If you find yourself struggling and needing to talk with someone while school is out, please reach out to Colorado Crisis Services at 1-844-493-8255 or by texting TALK to 38255. This service is available at no cost to anyone who would benefit from talking with a mental health professional. Additionally, if you or your loved ones are in need of community resources such as food, clothing, or emergency housing, you can reach the United Way help line by dialing 2-1-1 from any local telephone. We look forward to seeing you again soon, and will be thinking of our entire community over the holiday season.

No hay clases programadas para el viernes 18 de diciembre. With the Thanksgiving holiday around the corner, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommendations for staying healthy and still enjoying the holiday. To help prepare, now is a good time to schedule a COVID test for before and after the holiday. If you plan to gather with friends or family, help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by limiting the size of the gathering and testing beforehand. When together, wear masks, keep some distance and wash hands. If you think you have been exposed to COVID and need to access a testing center, click here to schedule an appointment in the Denver Metro Area.
