Kids' Books Annual Fundraiser
 

We're on our way to reaching our goal for this year's Kids' Books Fundraiser! So far, friends like you have donated $1,950. That's enough for 375 new books.

This year’s goal: $3,000 to add 600 books for students in grades 2 through 7 to Cedar Mill and Bethany Community Libraries' collection.

Will you help? Here's what your gift will allow the libraries to add for kids:

$100 = 20 books

$50 = 10 books

$20 = the first 3 books in a popular series like Mercy Watson by Kate DiCamillo or Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan.

Rockstar Readers Book Club

Join us for a fun, engaging monthly book discussion for kids! Explore books from various genres with an emphasis on diverse stories. Rockstar Readers Book Club is for kids in 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th grades, adult participation optional. In January we'll read Malala: My Story of Standing up for Girls' Rights by Malala Yousafzai.

Estate Planning Workshop

Everyone has an estate, no matter what you’ve acquired in life. Yet 75% of the public is unprepared, unaware that they even have an estate. Join attorney Richard Schneider, co-author of Fundamentals of Oregon Estate Planning, to learn about the legal documents that everyone needs. Discover the differences between wills and living trusts and ascertain which one is right for you and your family. Get up-to-date information on necessary health care documents, powers of attorney, guardianship and retirement issues.

Diverse Reads Book Group:
Native American Author
Thursday, January 21 | 6:30-7:30pm | Zoom

Join a community of readers in exploring and discussing a variety of written works, including short stories, nonfiction, poetry and fiction that fairly represents the perspective of marginalized groups. Selections will seek to embrace diversity in its many forms.

In January, we will read three short stories by Clarice Lispetor, a Latin American author. The stories are all available in The Complete Stories by Clarice Lispector or online.
