Herald St. Brew Works Now Open in Victoria

Victoria’s Herald St. Brew Works finally opened their doors this week. After a few setbacks, they quietly held a soft launch on Monday and are now fully open for business.

Herald St. Brew Works is a joint venture between Mike and Lee Spence of Victoria’s The Drake Eatery, and Jorden Foss and Jamie Garbutt of New Westminster’s Steel & Oak Brewing. Their head brewer is Jean-Benoît, who came to them from Ottawa’s Beyond the Pale Brewing.

The brewery is situated at 506 Herald Street and is open seven days a week. They opened with 10 different beers on tap—you can view their rotating tap list here.

Powell Brewery Turns 8

Powell Brewery in Vancouver is celebrating their 8th anniversary this week. To mark the occasion, they have brewed up a small batch, limited-release version of their original core brand Hopdemonium.

Hopdemonium is a Pacific Northwest IPA, which they say has a prominent floral, piney, and citrusy hop profile, counterbalanced with a significant malt base consisting of Pilsner and Crystal malts. It will be available at the brewery on Friday, December 18 from noon.

Strange Fellows Turns 6

Speaking of anniversaries, East Vancouver’s Strange Fellows Brewing is celebrating six years of business this Friday. To celebrate, at 7pm Brewmaster Iain Hill will host an online tasting, featuring four of their favourite brews: Guardian IPA, Popinjay West Coast Sour, Jongleur Wit & Blackmail Stout.⠀

To help you taste along, they have the beers available as mixed 4-packs at both the brewery and via home delivery. ⠀

Angry Hen Turns 3

Last, but not least, Angry Hen Brewing in Kelowna is celebrating their 3rd anniversary this week. They will be celebrating over four days with virtual fun and prize giveaways. See the events section for more details.
