175th Anniversary On Thursday 16th December 1845, five Loreto sisters arrived in Gibraltar. Having travelled for 8 days on a ship called The Royal Tar, they spent the night on board before being rowed ashore the next day. They were accompanied by the Vicar Apostolic of Gibraltar, the Right Reverend Henry Hughes.
The Loreto crest was projected on to the Moorish Castle on the 16th and 17th December to mark this historic event.. Read more on our website here.

Faith Diary Rejoice, O highly favoured one… The Lord is with you’ are the angel Gabriel’s words to Mary on imparting the overwhelming news that she was to become the Mother of God. These words remind us that however difficult our personal circumstances may be, if we welcome the birth of Mary’s son and receive him into our hearts and lives, we too can rejoice in His presence always, not just at Christmas. A very happy and Holy Christmas to you all !’

We have made a calendar to mark the 175th anniversary of Loreto nuns on the Rock. We have added sparkle to the classroom with beautifully coloured baubles, and we have completed our Advent Wreaths.
